Calling it like i saw it. Lamelo cost us that game. He played like crap but he also took us out of it with his WGAF play out there.
Not working, what was it?
Lol they took it down, it said the Cava made their most free throws in a game since 1981 to beat us.
NBA must not have liked that!
Not making any excuses but looks like he may have been siçk. Only saw part of the 4th and he didn’t play well.
Sick is one thing. But it doesn’t explain his play coming in when we finally wrested a lead and take a WTF 3 with like 19s left on the shot clock. Bleed time a, but b, don’t take a 30’ 3 regardless. It looked selfish, not like someone sickly trying to get through a game.
The guys on Locked On Hornets questioned whether Lemelo has checked out on our team and they questioned the reason/reasons why?
It does seem like Lamelo hasn’t been the same since after the all star break.
If we somehow get really lucky and get a top three player in this years draft we should geta big return on a trade of Lamelo. I hate to think that way but if for some reason he has checked out we need to cut our ties and find someone who wants to be a part of when things get good to great. If Lamelo purposely plays like crap than we can build without him.
We have seen that when the rest of this team is motivated we can at least compete with any other team when Lamelo has checked out from playing a complete game!
Looks like he is playing through injury to me.
I honestly think he was trying to find his rhythm to help the team, but the problem at that time was we needed to get the best shot possible in crunch time.
That was selfish at that point in the game - and I can’t help but think it was the 4th quarter and he knew he hadn’t got his in the first 3 like he normally does.
He should have known the team had it going when he got put back in the game and should have been facilitating and taking shots within the flow of the offense like a great point guard would.
He has probably checked out to a degree on the season - I mean I can actually understand to a degree, but that doesn’t excuse it at all. He’s getting paid a ton of money to be a professional.
That being said, I think the organization has to take a clear direction with him this summer. I think everyone knows that. The status quo isn’t going to be good for anyone.
I agree with Eastley, that those moments were not to his caliber, and he could’ve easily facilitated etc.
No need for excuses like illness etc., he should either show up or not, not just half ass it.
I went back and watched the game while LaMelo was on the floor. There were shots that I thought weren’t good, but that’s how the game is played now. Cleveland were taking shots I didn’t like and they have the best record in the league. His shot wasn’t falling and the fouls became an issue for the first time in a while. But the quick 3 down 2 with 1:40 to go was egregious. Can’t do that. Have to be more situationally aware. I agree with coach, he has to be given a clear direction in the off-season and what is expected for the team to be successful. There’s always going to be a bit of all-star game style to his play, but he can do better and make better decisions. He must if this team is going to have success with him as a major part of it.
I wanted to beat that smug, cowardly coach so bad. I normally would pull for small market, non superstar led teams to do well, but fuck Kenny and any good fortune while he’s there. I wish for nothing but 2nd round flameouts for the next 5 years.
The “Good Effort” Hornets showed up. Yay. Setting the all-time NBA record for point differential for 2, 3, 4, whatever games had me start to question if the messaging was dying and full quit mode was on. This game does restore that Lee’s voice still has some gravitas, some pull. But I do think a coach can only do so much, you need natural leaders on any team, and we lost that with Grant Williams (I think his loss had a bigger impact on the team than these other issues).
Normally good energy doesn’t carry over for us, but I don’t think they want to earn a 10 game losing streak, against the Nets at home, so this feels like a victory Saturday.
“We’ve got to build off of this,” Miles Bridges said after scoring a career-high 46 points in the Hornets’ slim 118-117 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers at Spectrum Center. “We’ve got to bring this same type of energy to every game we play, not just for the No. 1 team in the NBA. We’ve got to bring it for every team that we play.

Miles knows. Let’s see if they do tonight.
