Definitely getting tired
It’s okay to say he’s hitting the rookie wall. He is. It’s not an indictment on Kon, it’s just an insane jump to the NBA where you play 82 games-for any human being. And some crazy busy stretches during the season. The travel is also insane. He’ll get some rest during this stretch of bad teams starting with the Nets last night.
Something that people don’t comprehend is that traveling isn’t rest. When I travel, I can’t say I feel “rested.” It’s not.
That’s a crazy introduction for a rookie. “Hey man you’ve gotta do this 82 game regular season. And it’s just a prelude for the meaningful next month or so!”
Saw Locked On Hornets say he is hurt. I didn’t realize he had a back issue… ![]()
He’s been battling some lower back stuff for a couple of weeks now I’d say. Dell talked about it in one of the games and said you just have to play through it, it’s just the body getting used to playing 82 games.
The threat of Kon though does plenty to open up the floor and his teammates at this point. And he’s still finding ways to contribute and play winning ball. If we get into a playoff series, no back to backs should help a lot.
The ailing back makes sense. I’ve seen Kon a few times wearing something around his back as he’s on the bench or walking up to the scorers table. I made note of it mentally but had forgotten. I forgot what they’re called, but I think they vibrate and add heat/pressure to help muscles stay loose while they rest. Supposedly really helpful.
Seems Kon is still in this slump tonight. Hope he gets out of it by post season time.
Didn’t see the game but box score says 7/14, 4/9 (3pt) for 20/3/2. Seems ok to me
He was a little early. Lol
The Hornets need to disclose that he has been playing with a low back injury for at least 4 weeks
Pretty sure Kon doesn’t want that disclosed, he’s a no excuses type of guy. But it seems to be getting worse, not better. That is concerning.
It’s not concerning considering he has played 30+ minutes of a playoff run without missing a game for the last 3 months.
He can’t rest or they didn’t play last night.
SVG is a generational hater:
I don’t know if he’ll win ROTY… he really had a rough end to the season. Having said that…
I want to take this opportunity to say - I WAS WRONG - about Kon. When we drafted him I was very vocal about not liking the pick and not really believing he’d be impactful. I won’t hide from it. I was wrong!
I do worry his ceiling is limited but he’s brought everything he has right out of the gate. I hope he’ll find a way to continue to improve and continue to be impactful. (Hoping whatever he’s dealing with at the end of the season will not linger)
