I left after the Grant Williams missed 3 late in the 4th. My wife cussed me out on the way home. Lol
Oh yeah, I’m following that. I just said to people: “have you never fallen down before??” It’s a natural human instinct to reach out to grab something as they’re falling or reaching towards stability while on the ground. Melo can’t see Bam’s ankle.
Here’s the part that pisses me off the most: Bam is already falling down backwards before Melo gently grazes his foot. Because Bam is a large 6’11 human, he already has a ton of momentum falling backwards. Bam is already on his way down.
They can’t prove intent here and it was a freak play. The people saying he did it on purpose are haters
That’s about as bad as the Miami fans leaving in the finals game against the Spurs before Ray Allen bailed them out and extended the series. Lol!
Melo essentially admits intent and spo is probably correct here in the soft day and age play we are in.
HOWEVER, melo was fouled no less than three times on that play and not just a little contact. He was pinballed twice. No whistle (which I am ok with in the playoffs to an extent). With no whistle, the signal is we are playing tonight boys and not giving you easy foul shots. BUT, no whistle also ratchets up reactions and that was a reaction to not only getting fouled but playing with physical play and in a loose ball situation that wasn’t dirty. Him happening to be jumping in the air and falling poorly is what led to what I would deem a freak injury.
Was melo out of control, probably. Was that a vicious, trying to hurt someone, “no place for that in our game” type of action, absolutely not. Especially given the immediate preceding actions.
Like that was best win in Bobcats history and half our fanbase is calling for Lamelo to be suspended on something that is not a suspension worthy act. People should be commending our team today for surviving that rig job towards Miami with the selective whistles
From the article
Ball had a fadeaway shot blocked in the paint, and as Adebayo went for the rebound while trying to stay inbounds, Ball, who fell to the floor near Adebayo, swiped at Adebayo’s foot with his left arm.
It wasn’t a fadaway, he was knocked down.
It should have been a foul on LaMelo too, but doesn’t warrant a suspension like some are screaming for.
Whether Melo swipped or reached out towards Bam’s foot, bam was already falling backwards and about to take a significant tumble. Melo lightly touched the foot. Lots of pearl clutching by nba fans, and that Melo should be suspended and ejected etc
I love gotta give Coach Lee credit for having the balls to bench Kon and let Coby white cook. I remember maybe halfway into the fourth when Kon missed a shorter shot and then passed up a 12’ in the paint for a bad pass that was a turnover. I thought “I don’t know if we should have Kon out there to close the game.” Really bold moves by Coach Lee. It paid off.
Lots of trust in Sion James, who seems to have a knack for coming up with small clutch plays. I think Sion will continue to blossom. Nice second half by Miller. So many clutch threes to keep it close late in the fourth.
The Ref was right there. He didn’t call OOB staring at Bam’s feet, and he would’ve seen anything intentional from Lamelo and would’ve called it. Sometimes, the slow-motion and camera angles trick you given how fast these shit happens.
Watching live, I thought he just tripped over LaMelo or his own foot. Perhaps that was because I was yelling that LaMelo got fouled. A play most likely isn’t suspension worthy if you have to watch slow motion replay to see it.
What dirk isn’t saying
I will never say anything in support of the Heat. 2006 was snow job.
One of the best games I’ve gone to. That moment was why I made sure my kids were Hornets fans and not general basketball player’s fans. Because the stakes, the anxiety, the hope, the despair, the highs and lows, the connection to 19,000 other like minded people focused on the same goal…there’s not many other comparisons in life to getting to experience a rush of energy like that.
Us long suffering fans deserved this. Is it just a play-in, yes, but it represents so much more. The long journey of apathy, of being the only sucker still wearing Hornets gear in public while they win 7 games, of wasting time watching Bouknight and Kai fumble through the summer league, obsessively going through the draft lists, knowing we’ll never get the top prospects or pick the right player at our spot.
The redemption arc from being told we’re the worst franchise with the worst fans, media choosing us as the punching bag, talking of moving or contracting the team. And against them, the damn Heat, those smug assholes that think they’re owed every call and win. The back and forth, 16 lead changes, 17 ties. Having the game in the bag, having it ripped from us, and coming right back. Twice.
I don’t even know if I can encapsulate what it felt like, being able to jump up and down with my kids and half the city at the buzzer. Walking into the halls with chants of “Let’s Go Hornets” booming throughout the concourse. Even if we lose Friday, it’s the perfect capstone for our return to relevance. I think we ride this momentum to another win Friday, and on to Detroit. But last night was perfect, and it will always hold a special place in Charlotte sports lore.
The more you all try to argue with people the more you bring energy to it. If we have learned ANYTHING in today’s world you can’t change someones mind for them no matter how much you argue. I approach most things like this, don’t give it oxygen is the only way to sort of put the fire out.
I hate that in a huge wild win this is what so many of you are hung up on.
I’m personally not hung up on it, i just found it shocking that people are wanting to crucify Lamelo ball. Charlotte goes from a media darling immediately into “Lamelo ball is the antichrist and should be suspended.”
Miles really stepped up. Really made some big plays and played hard.
Yeah, he’s been overlooked all season and I’m sure heard the trade talk. Really showed he can contribute.
I said earlier int the season that he’d be a great contributor on a team that had it’s act together and had multiple stable pieces to keep the ship stable.
Maybe that team is us.
