In the same vein of the 2024 Hornets season wins prediction, I’ll put out there, player (Hornets’ player) predictions.
E.g.
Guy Doe - gets All Star consideration and if a few injuries ahead of him, he slides in
Player Doe - never sees a full season due to injuries
Other Doe - plays starter-level and traded by deadline
Rando Doe - really surprises after a shaky start
I figure if melo stays healthy he is going to be an all-star. If the hornets stay healthy they can win 40couple wins which moves them from bottom 5 to possible 7th seed.
I also put a few dollars on coach Lee for coach of the year at +4500. I think the hornets to win the SE division was +5500? Also, if you pick the correct order of final division standings, I think the charlotte 1st/Orlando 2nd was like +13000 or something (could be wrong on that one)
Edit: Melo 25mpg+hornets make playoffs is +1000. Mark Williams 13ppg+ and 10rebs+ and hornets win 35+ games is +600
Anywho, with how incredible Mann has been, I’d bet he gets a few votes in the 6th man or most improved. Or at least he gets a mention.
This isn’t as exciting, but I’d bet that coach Lee limits melo’s minutes to about 26-28 instead of 30+
My gambles (figurative, no money involved) would be:
Player
Prediction
Brandon Miller
Shows major sparks this season and flirts with NBA All Star consideration but injuries hold him back
Lamelo Ball
3rd Team All NBA but doesn’t make the All Star game (just a stacked group ahead of him at guard), has his first 40 point game and flirts with a 50 burger
Mark Williams
Gets healthy and has a very solid season, removes all questions about his role as a starter going forward
Miles Bridges
Has a good season and shows more passing chops than we recall, traded to a WC team before deadline
Tre Mann
Has a break out season but doesn’t crack the top 5 list for 6th man. Shows team moving defensive chops by end of season and it’s baffling how he’s not more in scope for 6th man talk
Josh Green
Never is fully realized here - defensive plus but offensive minus
Moussa Diabate
Show high effort, IQ, and energy and is positioned to lock down the C position w/ Taj enabling Nick’s trade
Vasa Micic
Never gets back from the Olympics and has trade value majorly downgraded - moved by deadline
Seth Curry
Remains highly valuable plug-n-play G/F when needed
Nick Smith Jr.
Spends time in GSO getting his offense back but highly improved defensively
Nick Richards
Does have games of intense effort but only goes to help his trade value. Traded by the deadline
Grant Williams
Has a hard to evaluate season but is used a lot as small ball 5 and as a defensive stopper on the block.
Cody Martin
Gets back to a healthy state and remains number one plug-n-play guy at the wing
TJ Salaun
Spends time in GSO through December/January but starts getting real minutes before the AS Break. Has first NBA minutes at home, not away
Taj Gibson
Break glass C that will be used due to health/injury
If any of these are right, I will buy myself a beer at a game. Considering the price, I will start saving … NOW
