Must win to salvage the season already?
Iād say way more important than win or loss is how Melo comes to play. And my bet is, if he comes correct, itās a solid win in the box score too.
maybe a career high points too if we do good because melos career high is 38
Do we expect Lamelo not to ācome to playā? He will give his full effort as usual.
We match up terribly against this Detroit team, will be a tough game to win
Can we maintain our solid lead? Based on this teams past I donāt think so!
Let the comeback begin! Hope we donāt just settle for three point shots! Melo, Mann and Miller going cold! New head coach many new players from the trade deadline last season but same old Hornets! I know this is supposed to be a season for growing but f that. I am tired of our team losing!!! Pistons by 6 We keep losing I will change my screen name to HarmlessSwarm!
How can I change my screen name to HarmlessSwarm!
Good of Melo to acknowledge he had 3 dumb fouls tonight. I do how he can get this figured out
3 dumb fouls is half. I sure hope lee can help him grow up. He has talent but no head
Itās not that drastic. No head is Kai Jones, or Bouknight. Itās more like he has a kind of Touretteās, where if he gets fouled and no call, he has an arm tic to reach out and grab something.
Although that overturned call for a hook was really weak. There was no swing or elbow shove, he basically reached through a little bit. Its a no call for every other player, star or not.
That OT foul also should been let go. I saw a jersey grab, sure, but it was inconsequential, there was no tug, the defender caught the ball and wouldāve been off to the races, they easily coulda let that go. They definitely would not have called that on Edwards or even Brunson or Haliburton. Trae wouldāve fallen down holding his eye and gotten 4 free throws for it.
All benefits of the doubt he might get if didnāt have the reputation he continues to earn. He needs to clean it up. He is getting a lot of calls he hasnāt in the past, but heās going to continue to be called for fouls when itās a 50/50 or even 40/60 call. Thatās all on him at this point.
If the rules are different for Lamelo than other players how is that his fault?
Nice bounce back game from Lamelo. The message was sent and I think it was received. Heās still relatively young and even though this is year 5, heās missed a lot of court time. Thereās stuff he needs to clean up (e.g. the 3 silly fouls) and the critiques of his game are fair and valid, but weāre still talking about a guy whoās averaging nearly 30 pts a night, has shown a clutch gene and is an unquestioned superstar talent. Iāll take these āproblemsā any day of the week.
And I love that he and Brandon seem to be figuring out how to play off each other. When they both get comfortable in their roles they could be special together.
because heās very much earned those rules.
I agree that he has āearnedā some of the calls against him. He needs to correct that. However, NBA officiating has got to be the worst in professional sports. Itās the consistency. If they are going to let things go for/against one player, it should be the same for all.
Edit: the hooking foul on LaMelo, should have been the same call on Cunningham (?) on the other end, he hooked Green (?). Instead they unheld the foul on Grant, which I think should have been a no call because Cunningham initiated the contact with his arm.
Exactly what I have been mentioning. Different rules apply for Lamelo. I donāt see as much how he has āearned those rulesā. He earned the right to get hacked with no call? He earned the right to have 3 touch fouls called on him a game?
I am not onboard with that. Not pretending like Lamelo doesnāt have dumb fouls but at the same time acting like that means he should never get calls and also have a microscope on him on defense is just not something I can agree with.
And yeah, the overturn where Lamelo got fouled first and was called correctly only for it to be incorrectly overturned and then right after that Cunningham actually commits an offensive foul and they donāt overturn it.
Lamelo rules. Given unfairly, not earned IMO
Totally agree. The number of times refs will spend 3-4 minutes reviewing a call and STILL get it wrong is mind-boggling. The hooking call you referenced was particularly bad, especially since they had just reviewed the same play a few moments earlier. But one of the worst, that actually worked out in our favor ironically, was the call in the Nets game (I think) where the ball clearly went off Milesā leg and we were awarded the possession after review. Maybe that was a make up for one of the several calls earlier that we shouldāve gotten but didnāt, but thatās just a bad look and makes it hard to have any confidence in the overall fairness of the officiating.
The shooting foul on Diabate on the rebound attempt was insane.
