Good stuff. If our 2nd unit can be a strength it will be a huge boost
Chef
Magic whine alot. It's off-putting
tnhornetsfan
Nice run
cltblkhscoach
They need to focus on shooting
2
tnhornetsfan
Interesting we're up 12 and LaMelo is the only one with a negative±
Vet_Picksetter
LaMelo did nice things but I think the magic were just on fire when he was in the game.
TheDorkLord
fire 'em up boys
he wanted that second one
cltblkhscoach
Yeah he wanted to get that
tnhornetsfan
Can't take a fair whistle
dnbman
Kon looks like he made his presence felt.
TheDorkLord
the tech was paying off until we challenged
Chef
Yup. He definitely decided to get that second. He had to also. Magic are whiners but the refs have been not calling a whole lot on their end. Coach knows the magic need to step up the physical play. Especially for olayoffs
cltblkhscoach
That's probably built up from losing two in a row too.
TheDorkLord
maybe we word came down to the refs that we've been getting screwed and they need to square it up… lol
Chef
Magic look like a sliding team going into the playoffs. No extra gear
cltblkhscoach
Dell Curry Night man. Lol
1
Chef
Who's calling the game with Eric tonight?
Vet_Picksetter
Terrence
Chef
He's pretty good
Bitaze is bad.
1
TheDorkLord
how many fouls on Kon now? 2?
Chef
Desmond bane is a tough player. He could have played in the 90's
Vet_Picksetter
Bane has been tough for Kon all night.
Coby!
Chef
He's a tough tough guard. Especially for a rookie like kon
Vet_Picksetter
Kon just got foul 3
Chef
Kaulk pokes and disrupts so many rebounds
Vet_Picksetter
B-Mil!
tnhornetsfan
Just give banchero the outside shot. Take the drive away
powellrmp
I just switched over from college basketball
Duke was down by 11 to the 16 seed Sienna earlier today. And it would’ve made my year if Duke lost
Vet_Picksetter
High Point Panthers baby!
1
powellrmp
Oh yeah it’s Dell curry night!!
TheDorkLord
I really wanted Duke to lose that one!
1
Vet_Picksetter
I credit countdown guy with that Sion James three assisted by Coby
2
powellrmp
So may people picked VCU to beat UNC. I found that hilarious
cltblkhscoach
It's great to see us with a big lead against this team
powellrmp
I know a guy who played for HPU a few years ago!
1
tnhornetsfan
Good half. I hope the extended halftime doesn't cool us off too much
TheDorkLord
I used to LOVE college basketball. I hardly watched this year. NIL and transfer portal have ruined college sports for me. (I'm an App State guy and we just cannot compete in the new world that has been created).
2
cltblkhscoach
Totally agree
meloFan
I like the new owners, glad MJ sold
2
powellrmp
EC! Dell!!
cltblkhscoach
Cool that the owner is speaking
powellrmp
Michael would’ve given himself an award before giving Dell is credit
3
cltblkhscoach
Lol. It would have been Fred Whitfield during that time
powellrmp
I love 90s hip hop so when I hear “Dell” I think of del the funky homosapien
Vet_Picksetter
Saw Public Enemy at the old Chapel Hill Cats Cradle(?) in '92. Also went to shows for Brand Nubian, 3rd Base, De La Soul, and A Tribe Called Quest back in the early 90s. Love Love Love 90s hip hop and I'm glad I was there for it. Combine that with being young enough to play hoops and watch LJ/Zo develop in Charlotte. It was just a great time. Also, there was a great revitalization of black cinema back then, when cinema was a big deal. I got to meet John Singleton of Boyz in da Hood fame back then too.
1
meloFan
Imagine having number 30 Curry leading 3pt% one year, and the next you have a rookie leading 3PM, just crazy
hahahahaha Eric is hillarious with that tongue and cheek to that ass celebration that we had to experience earlier this year
powellrmp
Damn. Feels
Man I wish I was there
Vet_Picksetter
Also really dug that Deltron 3030 album.
powellrmp
Ohhh man I miss the old cats cradle!!! I was about to see shows there before it changed
Vet_Picksetter
If memory serves it was closer to UNC and then moved a little more towards carrboro? I might have it wrong. Public enemy was awesome live by the way. Flavor Flav was truly nuts in person.
powellrmp
Wow man . Tribe at the old cats cradle must’ve been crazy
cltblkhscoach
Brought tears to my eyes watching that
powellrmp
Same spot. They just did a renovation to open it up more 15 years ago. (I think) it could’ve been 20 years. It just feels like a big open room now
Vet_Picksetter
Apparently the Cats Cradle moved in 1993 to Carrboro, according to Google. Powell, I'm just old, man.
Chef
It's definitely in carborro. Never been there by drive by it
Vet_Picksetter
My old arse was at the earlier location, on Franklin Street in Chapel.Hill in '92, right before it moved.
Chef
Also, keep in mind I am old, but anytime I see the concert lineups, you are never getting lineups like you saw. You just can't see good upcoming or made it acts in small venues for decent prices anymore
powellrmp
Damn, what year did it move?? I thought it was always on the edge of Franklin/carrboro
Vet_Picksetter
1993, it moved from chapel hill.
To carrboro. I'm just old
powellrmp
Well, it got renovated 15 years ago in Carrboro and it’s soulless
1
Vet_Picksetter
I'm so old I've never been to the carrboro location. I hate to hear that it became soulless.
powellrmp
It used to be funky and have a vibe. Now it’s just a big fucking open room
Vet_Picksetter
It's tough to see the cool.things leave.
Chef
Desmond bane plays physical. Gets pushed, flops. Cries. And gives up a three by not getting back.
Can't have it both ways
I don't love the energy coming out. Got that vibe they are going to let them cut it to 8 this quarter
1
powellrmp
I meant to make a post about that a week ago or so. The hornets play with a slow pace, which makes the offensive output even more crazy
1
Vet_Picksetter
Chino Hills LaMelo…
1
powellrmp
I like Bane. Sorry. With his shitty attitude
Chef
Magic are WHINERS
Vet_Picksetter
Dang Kon is so money
TheDorkLord
we must win by 30
it is so much fun to watch guys have to foul Moussa to keep him off the boards
1
1
Chef
Banchero takes 4 steps then shoulders then wants a call
Vet_Picksetter
Brute Magic got nothin' for the Pogo Mouse
Chef
Moose straight working
1
powellrmp
Oh lord. B Mill
Chef
If I were the magic, bitaze wouldn't be headed to CLT after the game. Sorry dude you are cut
powellrmp
I will reference my stupid post. Is Moussa the center of the future ?
Chef
I don't think so
powellrmp
I just think paying centers a bunch of money in this nba landscape is misguided
Unless you have an absolute unreal player like Wemby or Jokic
Chef
He can't guard true centers. There is definitely a role for him. I almost would rather do center by committee based on matchups
Vet_Picksetter
Is there such a thing as a 4/5 combo player anymore? I'd love to address our 4 and 5 issues with one player.
powellrmp
Boozer
I mean, what true centers?
Duren I guess, sure. But I’m not going to pay another center a bunch of money because of 2-3 guys
Boozer might be. But I hear ya. I really think that is giannis
powellrmp
There’s this incredible YouTube doc about the bobcats 2011/12 season I have to share. It’s 2.5 hours long. It’s thorough, accurate to a “t”, and brutal. Great documentary
1
Vet_Picksetter
Color me intrigued
Mich_Mercer
We’ve taken their will away
Vet_Picksetter
Sick alley
Mich_Mercer
Idk… they’ve been playing really well. They are a good team.
powellrmp
ORL, MIA, ATL have been playing really really well
ATL is at a 10 game winning streak?
Chef
They sure don't seem to enjoy playing with each other. Their body language is awful
Mich_Mercer
Like we did to teams in Jan / Feb
Chef
2011 was the 66 game schedule they won 7 right?
1
Vet_Picksetter
I believe it was the lowest win loss percentage in NBA history. And the reward was Michael kid gilchrist.
1
powellrmp
Mich_Mercer
Man… imagine a healthy AD on this team.
powellrmp
Caution: it hurts. But it’s incredible
1
dnbman
Shout out to MKG. Hope he's living well.
Mich_Mercer
I was so stoked for MkG. I wish he worked out. He had a lot of talent. He could have fit well with this team.
Chef
You could do a 30 for 30 on Charlotte's draft lottery unluck
1
powellrmp
Charlotte basketball would look a lot different with: Chris Paul, Dwight Howard, and Anthony Davis
Chef
Wemby
Mich_Mercer
Or Wemby… my goodness
dnbman
I was rose colored glasses on most of them.
Mich_Mercer
We’ve had decent luck lately… haven’t got the first pick but we have moved up lately… a good bit right?
Chef
Zion
1
dnbman
I do remember wishing we drafted Thomas Robinson.
1
Vet_Picksetter
Me too. T-Rob was such a rebounding stud.
powellrmp
Scoot
2
Mich_Mercer
I dropped him today on my fantasy team.
lol
Chef
It really is an uncanny run of not getting a #1 pick but getting just close enough in franchise altering drafts
Meanwhile San Antonio has three #1 picks. Admiral, duncan, wemby
powellrmp
Chef-watch that documentary I posted above
dnbman
He seemed can't miss. Which, clearly they can all miss.
cltblkhscoach
Robinson was who I wanted
Chef
I remember that season pretty well. It was also in the middle of the twc/charter cable thing. Bobcats weren't shown on tv. I remember watching pirated streams during a seven win season
powellrmp
While watching that documentary, I shifted between wincing and chuckling. But mostly pain and wincing
Vet_Picksetter
Please tell me Tyrus Thomas was a big part of it.
Chef
Dell is a class act. He just thanked the magic for giving him the extended halftime
1
cltblkhscoach
The fact he's on the broadcast tonight says a lot about who he is
powellrmp
Oh he talked about the entire roster. It’s 2.5 hours long
The years leading up to it, everything
Vet_Picksetter
When they drafted DJ Augustin over Brook Lopez… It was one of the worst basketball nights of my life.
B-Mill!
Chef
Dust chip? Make an appearance
powellrmp
Oh yeah. Big time
Cody Higgins too
Chef
I was convinced there was a shot Charlotte was getting carmelo and cp3
I was a young fan
powellrmp
And it’s not some kind of hit piece on the bobcats. Like “haha they suck let’s laugh”. It was weirdly kind and sympathetic
Chef
Oh now vet. That was the glory days of draft night chats and we got ballwhore out of it
1
Vet_Picksetter
The league was moving to stretch fours and they drafted Ajinca when they could have gotten Ryan anderson.
On the same night as DJ over Brook
cltblkhscoach
Larry Brown man. Smh
Vet_Picksetter
LOL
Larry Brown: "First he makes you better. Then he makes you crazy."
powellrmp
Oh yeah. Long discussion of Boris diaw too
TheDorkLord
Adam Morrison was going to take us to the promised land lol
Vet_Picksetter
I was in the arena for Morrison's first pro game. He scored 10 points in the first half, including an amazing turnaround 35 footer at the end of the first quarter. We thought we had our Larry bird. Then the rest of his career happened.
Diaw was going thru the motions after'09-10?
powellrmp
When he was moved to the bench. And he responded with “that’s fine. I don’t want to be in the starting lineup”
1
Mich_Mercer
That Bobcats team with Steven Jackson, Diaw, Richardson, Chandler and Felton was good
Vet_Picksetter
I think you mean Wallace not Richardson
Chef
All in for a second round max team. That was always the Charlotte thing
1
Mich_Mercer
Too bad it didn’t last very long
powellrmp
And Silas trying to fire up Boris diaw about losing weight. Diaw: “yeah. I’m bored here. This sucks”
Vet_Picksetter
Richardson was part of the trade for Diaw
Mich_Mercer
Jason Richardson was on that team wasn’t he?
Oh… my bad.
Vet_Picksetter
Close. Easy mistake to make.
Mich_Mercer
It all bleeds together. Haha
I remember going to the playoff game and getting smoked by the Magic
Vet_Picksetter
Yep. I was at one of those. Felton could not stay with jameer Nelson to save his life.
Mich_Mercer
Man… Morrison was good in college… and good at first in the nba as well… then just fell off
powellrmp
The DJ Augustine draft was a few years ago few years before my time here. I think I read things here off and on. Because I couldn’t find anywhere else that would talk about the bobcats haha
Chef
Ammo lost it when he got hurt. That and his mentals were always going to be an uphill battle for him in the NBA
powellrmp
Aka I couldn’t find anyone else who hated themselves enough to talk at length about the bobcats outside of myself
Vet_Picksetter
LOL
powellrmp
I say that with love
Chef
There were several dozen of us just lurking in the dark corner of the web
Vet_Picksetter
This year makes all the pain worth it?
Chef
You are way to grizzled to mean this
powellrmp
I’m actually incapable of feeling anymore after all those years.
2
cltblkhscoach
The best memory of the Bobcats on here were the draft lottery and draft night chats
Mich_Mercer
Man… I loved the Bobcats.
Vet_Picksetter
I have nostalgia for the Bobcats because the tickets were cheaper and I liked the overall NBA a little better back then. Gerald Wallace was always worth the price of admission.
1
Chef
I was so close to splurging on $300 per ticket floor seats for a Saturday night bobcats game but thought, nah, just a little too much
1
Vet_Picksetter
Most I ever paid was 60. Saw Gerald Wallace and Gobert Arenas go off in Dec. '06. Kinda cool to see the highlights on YouTube now.
powellrmp
Hahaha
Vet_Picksetter
Not gonna lie, I had some doubts about Kon on draft night. Now I know that basketball can be fun again.
Mich_Mercer
I thought Kon would be a good “roll player” but no upside
I thought he was just a safe pick.
I really never hated the Bobcats.
I’ve got a cool glass.
powellrmp
There was a mob of people outside the arena to get the Jordan 11’s. It was so out of control that they tried to wave people away with free bobcats tickets. Everyone said “no I want the shoes.”
That year, a free ticket was too expensive to watch the bobcats
1
cltblkhscoach
I had my own row with the Bobcats. 201 A. Lol
Their customer service was great though
2
Vet_Picksetter
Maybe what I miss most about the Bobcats though is that I was simply a younger person with way less aches and pains. I was not intimidated by driving into Charlotte to catch a game.
TheDorkLord
Coby knows how the NBA game is played
meloFan
Will Tre Mann play?
powellrmp
I’d like to hear Walker from locked on hornets on play by play
