He didn’t get a tech. It was a 3 point play
If Kon plays tonight did he just break the curse? That was our annual “x player out through all star break” injury” and he seemingly had to be held out Monday and is most likely playing today.
90 degree turn of the ankle on Friday with all of your weight coming down on it and you play Wednesday? THE KID IS MADE OF STEEL.
Bro… let this playout.
Sometimes you need to watch the sunrise and not say anything.
Excellent!
The Sun also rises is one of my favorite books.
7-7 stretch. If we hadn’t of given up leads in the most recent Bucks game and the GS game, this could be a 6-1 stretch of basketball.
-The 10 point loss to the bucks we had a slim lead at halftime.
-Gave up a fourth quarter lead in the Bulls game
-had a slim lead at halftime of the Nuggets game.
So this is a 7-7 run against a fairly competitive stretch of teams. Except for Washington, but…the wizards have won 4 of their last 6 games.
So without the late collapse during the Bulls, Bucks, Warriors games, this is a 10-4 record. And there was another game we had a halftime lead (nuggets). Lots of “ifs” there, but we need something to feel good about.
Happy birthday to muggsy bogues
We got 8 games that we could’ve (should’ve) won this season thus far. Let’s say we win half of those, and we would be in a play-in spot.
Here are the games:
Oct 25 @PHI L125 - 121
Nov 4 @NOP L116 - 112
Nov 17 @TOR L110 - 108
Nov 23 @ATL L113 - 110
Dec 12 vsCHI L129 - 126
Jan 2 @MIL L122 - 121
Jan 7 vsTOR L97 - 96
Jan 8 vsIND L114 - 112
Those last 3 especially hurt for me. Win those and they’re in the play-in battle. That said I think they’re this upcoming draft, off-season, and trade deadline of ‘27 from being in a position to be a top 6 team in the East. I know it’s hard to be patient, but I think we’re close.
If we were able to 5 out of the close games, the hornets would right around a .500 record. Tis a shame, but at least we’re seeing glimpses of good, competitive basketball being played.
interested to see how Grant Williams mixes back in. Was glad to see him pull down some rebounds, as I think he’s more of the ideal small ball center. Hopefully Grant will diversify his shot selection. I probably won’t catch much of the Clippers game tonight. Given how busy our schedule is, I’m glad Grant is coming back to provide some minutes and flexibility
The Hornets have the highest offensive rating in the league for the last 15 games. This was all I could hope for. Be fun if you can’t be a contender. The threes are cool when they actually go in.
We all know it’s largely a matter of health.
Yep. If we can stay healthy.. we can hang.
#4 net rating nothing to sneeze at!
Too bad they lost so many close games recently.
I strongly think we are better than our record shows.
2nd best net rating last 10 and 1st last 5. I hope we can keep it up.
We would be around .500 if we won about 5 of those close game. 2-3 were last second shots too
Random thought, and I shouldn’t be looking this much into the future. Lots of mixed opinions on Brandon Miller. Some people have cooled off, some tepid, some still quite high on miller. Despite the wide spread of sentiment towards Miller, I think the vast majority of opinions contains a healthy level of uncertainty. Given his lack of availability, it’s a warranted uncertainty.
Miller next year has a club option on his contract, which will absolutely be exercised by the Hornets-no uncertainty there. To the tune of 15 million. However, after the 2026/27 season, Miller is set to be a RFA.
I can only hope that Brandon miller stays healthy enough to take the uncertainty out of how to approach his RFA year after next season. I think Miller staying healthy and continuing to develop is the golden key to Charlotte’s future hopes.
Obviously, Kon has been a revelation. I think the natural tendency is to shift some of the pressure and lofty expectations away from Miller. In combination with Kon’s performance and Miler’s health concerns, it would seem these have led to a cooling off of sentiment towards Brandon Miller.
From what I recall, the majority of Hornets fans felt that Brandon miller needed to develop into that all star/fringe all star level for the team to excel. It’s become a little more difficult to imagine this outcome, but not impossible if he’s healthy and on the floor.
Conversely, I think Kon’s immediate emergence has increased the importance on Miller evolving into the higher level player we all envisioned. Given the recent success of the starting lineup based on the Melo/Kon/Miller trio, I think that it’ll be Brandon Miller over the next year that can make or break the Hornets future.
This is a critical stretch for Brandon Miller’s future, as his health/development will portend the Hornets ceiling in the following seasons to come. We’ve seen what Kon will bring, but do we really know what Brandon Miller’s potential is? I hope we figure that out in the next year, given his RFA status after next season
Thing I like about Miller is that he’s a legit player. He’s only a letdown in the context that he may or may not be THE corner piece that we’ve coveted for so long. But he still can contribute and be a lead scorer on any given night even if he isn’t THE guy.
I don’t think his arc his impacted by Kon. To me Kon’s greatest value outside of shooting is the versatility he gives the team in how they move forward. There’s no asterisk like a lot of our other players have had in the past. (have to hide him on defense, can’t shout outside, needs to have another playmaker with him, etc.) In turn that gives you more flexibility on how you use Miller, whether on the floor or as a trade piece.
