There were minutes available for Bouknight. And they went to Isaiah Thomas. Isaiah Thomas who does not and cannot play defense. If defense was the concern for Bouknight, that’s an odd message to give minutes to IT who is a horrible defender.
Bouknight isn’t a point guard though…
10 character Touche.
I could really see this as a Clifford guy. I doubt we can get into that but we could offer a full MLE if we lose Cody. That’s more than he can get in GSW and no matter how much he might like the Bay, he’s never cashed in on a big contract and that injury could give him reason to do so.
Ever since watching Payton get 14 steals and 42 points against us, or something like that, I became a huge fan. Would love to get him.
Also, new playoff Wiggins would be perfect next to Melo.
Nic Claxton S&T + KD for Terry + Gordon + bouquet of picks, what do we think? Melo - Bridges - KD, eastern semis confirmed?
I heard that Cliff was not under consideration the entire time and then all of a sudden he was the one.
Sounds like to me we fired Borrego with Snyder in mind, once Snyder told us to wait, we went with Atkinson. Then when he screwed us over it seems D’antoni, as the THIRD choice, came back to us with higher demands and we switched directions.
Some if the above is speculation by myself, but seems like we were closer on Snyder than what has leaked to media, which is next to nothing. I also heard that Snyder and MJ either did meet or were scheduled to meet during this process.
Then when I think back to the Coach K thing and the timing of it all (I was told it had more to do with Mark Williams), it seems like we went after Snyder really hard.
Maybe Cliff is a stopgap that could work out really well for us in the short run. Can’t see him coming into this situation with that understanding.
Also, Cliff wants to be here and believes in us. Honestly he is the best coach we have ever had, just had frustrating lineups at times (again our roster sucked and we were so used to sucking that we thought it was good HAHA) and we thought he wasn’t developing, but looking back on it he didn’t have much to develop and those that he did all had career years and tenures under him.
I’ll have what you’re having
Correcting my earlier post. Doug Branson clarified the contract is team options on each of years 1 and 2 and not on year 3.
Interesting, would aid the “stopgap” theory.
Wow. That’s interesting
How does the 1 year option work? Have we already pick that option up? Or can he be terminated during the season?
In fact, they will bring back Borrego in December /s
Means we can terminate at the end of each year as I understand it without financial penalty.
I figured that would be called a 2nd / 3rd year option.
Yeah, not sure. It’s not my terminology but regardless, it sounds like he has no guaranteed salary beyond this year.
i am picturing clifford walking around like phillip seymor hoffman playing art howell in moneyball. talking to mitch about who he plays and needing security on his contract.
someone please photoshop this. please.
It makes me laugh because they look so similar anyway.
Sidenote: I think all sports should make the coach wear the complete uniform like baseball. I never could figure out why baseball does that. It looks so ridiculous
yeah no kidding. It’s like, is this old fat manager about to take off his warm up jacket and make a plate appearance? lol
