2023-24 Hornets General Discussion Thread

The only thing I need to add to this is that we just need him to be an NBA 3rd string center. So not that high of a bar and he is very young.

He’s raw in a very different way than we’re used to. He has potential in the right ways and doesn’t seem that he’s a major dropoff from Nick, but way more upside when he puts things together.

At this point, I can’t tell if it’s really Mitch, or Plow quoting me doing my Mitch impression on here

Nnaji should absolutely be brought over, assuming he agrees to it. To my mind, you need to evaluate him for the rest of the season, to the point you feel comfortable with him as your third string Centre next season. We know a vet Centre is needed and that Richards’ contract is very tradeable, so that would be my aim. Sign an experienced Centre, trade Richards and develop Nnaji.

ā€œAvailability is the Best Abilityā€

Coach just said ā€œwe’ve mixed and matched enough this year.ā€ Dude’s clearly tired of revolving player situation with injuries and young guys not being prepared.

Sorry to harp on this but any clarification on the two 2nd round picks coming in and going out?

Not sure if the 2nd to Dallas it’s the incoming one from OKC. Looks like we might owe our 2nd to POR, and BOS owes us one. Might be wrong on that.

That helps some but according to ESPN OKC only owned one 2nd round pick…Houston’s. And we only owned Bostons. I would love it if we gave up Bostons and got to keep Houston’s. I guess those details will trickle out eventually.

Its the difference between a potential role player and a guy that never plays for us so I hope we get Houston’s too, because Boston is going to be a 60th pick

Interesting read on Bouknight. Wish him the best.

That’s depressing to read. I do hope he figures himself out.

One thing that was very apparent tonight: so many of our guys have been playing like NBA ball is something mystical that needs to be decoded. But if you just play simple disciplined ball, the game becomes easier. I’m sure that’s a lot harder to do than it sounds, but it was such a marked difference.

I’m really wondering about a guy like Thor. I want to root for him so much, but it’s just night and day compared to a guy like Bertans.

They don’t know how. None of them, other than maybe miller and he’s a rookie

Your thoughts are that’s a lot of players in the NBA though, and we just have a large collection of them, right?

Wondering if we’ve just been reaching too much, poorly assessing, poorly developing, something else?

Somewhat related, my issue with Lamelo, as I’ve probably said too much, is that I don’t think his game helps run a system where other guys can develop as effectively. Hopefully that changes with some of the guys. I definitely like the idea of Melo finding Bertans in the corner.

I should probably post elsewhere, but it’s our guy Biyombo. The Thunder have signed him for the rest of the season. Good for him.

Has to be all the above I’d think.

Curious if Cody is playing some Dwayne Bacon role for Clifford. A guy that we collectively don’t understand his playing time but Cliff will give him a consistent 25 mins a game regardless.

Watching the Media Availability videos for Seth and Grant, and it’s pretty cool to acquire two guys who legit love the Hornets. Seth it’s pretty obvious, but it was cool to see Grant talk about ā€œBring Back the Buzzā€ and how he saw himself playing here at some point in his career. Good to see professionals who are invested in the team already.

EDIT: not sure you could have asked for a better first interview than Grant Williams’.
