Very glad the kings pulled it out.
Way over Steph. Have been for a few years

Knicks/Kings would probably be my ideal finals matchup.
In reality, I think it’s going to be Phili and Denver, which will have a nice story line of battle of the MVPs.
Last year Monk got his chance to be one of the main options on offense for the Lakers and played 30 mins a game. He averaged 13ppg, plus plenty of Lakers fans found him to be the same Malik Monk he was for the Hornets which was either hot or cold most nights. So I don’t think he’d put up the kind of ppg Terry does.
Monk would’ve found himself in the situation he’s always been in when he was here. With an offensive minded shooting guard who’s slightly better than him above him. See Jeremy Lamb his first few years here then Rozier. I also don’t think he’d be a good fit in this backcourt as we’d have LaMelo, Monk and Rozier who are all more offensive players.
On Monk vs Bouknight, Monks first two years here also weren’t very great. Bouknight is also cheaper than Monk.
We let Monk go for nothing. I still think he’s being slept on. He passes the eye test for me. He just needs to be more aggressive. He’s never been the guy who takes a lot of shots on a consistent basis. He only shot 10 shots a game on the Lakers and he shot 47 percent, The talent is clearly there. I’ll die on this hill. Haha
Monk has matured into a solid pro. I wouldn’t say he’s on Terry’s level as Terry is far more consistently impactful. Nevertheless, Monk has a skill set every team needs. He’s a prototypical 6th man scorer. But while he possesses a needed skill set, it’s also one that’s fairly replaceable. For example I don’t think he does anything we couldn’t get from Svi for cheaper. A lot of guys in the league can score, especially when that’s their one job and they aren’t asked to do a lot else. And that’s the reason he has, and likely will continue to bounce around from team to team.
I think he’ll contribute wherever he goes, but I think the book has pretty much been written on him. No team is likely to pay a premium for his services or commit to him long term. He’ll probably continue to get short, relatively cheap deals like his last couple which will make him an ideal piece for trade packages. I think he’s a solid, journeyman type contributor but don’t really see him being more than that.
Lakers are going to be a tough out. That trade at the deadline made them actual contenders
I will gladly support the Lakers if they sweep Memphis 4-0.
Bucks in trouble if Giannis is out. Heat are a bad matchup for them. They are built for the sixers and celtics
I think I heard Reggie Miller say that Tyler Herro is a bigger lost for the Heat than Giannis is for the Bucks. Is he crazy?
I think guys like Malik need a change of scenery. If he had stayed here, he would always still be carrying the baggage of his behaviour/immaturity. Not only would that affect the franchise’s view of him, but also, by extension, his view of himself. Talent was never an issue with him.
I’m happy that he has begun to turn himself around a bit, but I do not believe it would have happened if he was still on our roster.
It’s a small part of why the NBA is almost unwatchable for me. That’s ridiculous
Reggie Miller has a very dry sense of humor, I assume this had to be sarcasm.
I know you love when I send you off on tangents, but the game is that bad for you? The game from 5-7 years ago when the Hardens and Paul Pierces and Wades were flopping their way to 20 free throws a game, I 100% agree. And the Golden State inspired “any-3-is-a-good-3” style made for some of the ugliest basketball the world has known outside of a Knicks-Heat 90’s playoff series.
But they’ve cleaned a lot of that way up. There’s still superstar bullshit calls, but they can’t barrel through people or swing their arms into free throws anymore. The charge block calls actually seem more consistent. And while 3 pointers are high, it seems teams have adjusted to working the ball around to find smart 3s instead of any shot they like, as well as the creativity guys find to attack the paint.
The athleticism is through the roof, and the average skill level is so far advanced today. You can’t just be big anymore, you have to have some shooting/passing/ball handling ability, and able to slide your feet, to even get on the floor.
That Kings Warriors game was as good as it gets in terms of everything I was saying. Jokic is a blast to watch. The Celtics, as much as I don’t want them to win, play such a good game. I’m actually enjoying watching games more than I have for a few years. And way better than the 84-79 games from the ugly era that I don’t miss at all.
Man it’s so easy to dislike Draymond Green. Watching him taunting and inciting Kings fans after stomping on Sabonis was dreadful. They should suspend that guy forever.
You know how there are the types of guy you love when they’re on your team, but hate when they’re on the opposition’s? I think I’d really struggle to get onboard with supporting Draymond. Just too much low class, cheap stuff from him.
Draymond is not that type of guy. Tough guy, fine. Punk, cheap shot guy…nope
I agree there’s nothing cheap about him.
This angle you can tell its very purposeful. Sabonis definitely grabbed his leg. But this wasn’t an “I-lost-my-balance, needed-to-step-quick-before-falling-down” thing.
This was more, “there’s-that-MF-roach-I’ve-been-looking-for-DIE-MF-DIE-let-me-scrape-the-guts-off-on-this-bum-here” kinda death stomp, with a little parkour kick off the obstacle at the end.
He might get a game off. Don’t know if it’d go 2 because of the leg grab and him seeing red. But then again, he wasn’t suspended for punching Poole in HD, so we’ll see…
Definitely intentional on Draymond’s part, but I do think Sabonis deserves a little more criticism than he’s getting. This wasn’t an unprovoked Christian Laettner type stomp (any youngins on here may need to YouTube that reference for context). Grabbing a guy’s ankle as he’s trying to run is about as bush league as you can get, and is understandably going to elicit a significant response.
I’m no fan of Draymond whatsoever, but given what precipitated his action I’m not sure he deserves a suspension. He didn’t need to stomp that hard, but when you’re being held like that I think it’s entirely plausible that his foot would have naturally come down on Sabonis’ body.
Haha. You misunderstood. I can’t stand Draymond. He is a complete cheap shot guy. Is he tough? Probably, I sure wouldn’t want to tussle with him. But he is a guy that takes shots knowing there aren’t 80 and 90’s era fights anymore
I don’t know how much criticism goes on sabonis. I think he might have just been putting his arm up for protection. IDK. Draymond seems like a likable guy when he guests on tv, he’s probably a good teammate, and is certainly passionate about the game. He just seems to go over the edge sometimes and I think this is probably one of those times.
