I have 2 tickets if anyone wants to go

This was legitimately the best game I have ever seen Cody Martin have. He was a dang animal on both ends. Nice change of scenery, having to remind myself he has been hurt for basically 2 seasons straight. Maybe that is why he has looked so bad prior to this (wishful thinking).
Tre mann is legit. My second favorite player. It will be interesting watching his game as he climbs up opposing scouting reports.
Miles continues to be my least favorite. He so needs to be traded.
Yeah, it’s great finally being able to see a healthy, bouncy Cody. Even if healthy I don’t expect to see last night’s numbers every night, but that high energy, two-way ability is what earned him the extension and we’ve missed that a lot the past two years.
We needed 3 game balls because Cody, Nick and Tre were all incredible last night.
He has been very underwhelming so far.
He is the one player I get genuinely excited about when I see him at the scorer’s table. Mann has me thinking “ok, now shit’s going to happen.”
He has different layers to his game. He is gritty in an old school way.
Not disparaging melo here, melo has been the mvp no doubt, but melo is one trick pony. He shoots long (and longer threes) and drives and kicks. He still really hasn’t figured out layups with contact. He has zero pull up/mid range game. He seems to get cooking during junk times and that carries over to comebacks. Again, without melo this team as 2 20 point or greater losses. But Mann just has more adaptable game. He reminds of a different version of d wade or even a small version of jimmy butler.
I do see what you mean about Lamelo and the grit thing. He definitely gives the impression of being carefree, which is kind of the antithesis of grit, but he obviously does care. I think you can lack grit, or what we generally associate with being gritty, while still being effective. I wouldn’t say Magic was necessarily gritty. Certainly not in the same way that a more stoic guy like Dumars was, but underneath the smiles he was laser focused and highly effective in clutch situations. I think what’s hard with Lamelo is that he’s played so few meaningful games that it’s difficult to assess how effective he would actually be in those situations. I think he can be, but we won’t know for sure until we actually get good enough to play games that matter.
That’s actually an interesting observation and the parallel of him to Magic goes beyond just that aspect. Neat way to frame it.
Magic suited up at center in the finals finals and had a
42/15/7 game. Dude was gritty.
By Mann being gritty I am not implying melo isn’t. I was more saying melo seems to really only play one way and that is long jumpers and drives and kicks. Mann (although nowhere near as talented yet) has more of a swiss army knife type game
