How's it going?

cltblkhscoach

Hornets up 16 so far. Executing well on offense, Raptors not shooting well

Professional effort. Too many times last season we would come out sleepwalking in these games

dnbman

Digging Josh Green's play so far.

LOL at Nick Richards. (tip of hat.)

Mich_Mercer

Dick is really giving it to us in the 2nd quarter.

spectre

Our O has been pretty solid. D not so much

dnbman

That was a pretty impressive heat check by Melo

Mich_Mercer

Absolutely no D in that 2nd quarter

spectre

Yeah not sure what happened. We started out pretty well

Mich_Mercer

We couldnt gaurd Dick.

dnbman

walked away up by 20 or so and came back a few minutes later up 5.

Mich_Mercer

That is the hornets way.

I still miss Ashley.

Salaun was really composed on that score in the paint. He sure shows some great promise

Mich_Mercer

I’m pretty happy with him. He seems like a good guy as well and plays hard. Doesn’t act too cool for it.

spectre

Miles is still ass and thats without BMill. Can’t imagine that getting better when he’s back

powellrmp

I hate watching bridges play basketball

but hey! What a great three year deal that no one else was going to give him! A steal

At least Melo is getting to the rim

spectre

Nicks been playing really well

powellrmp

also, I know Nick was fouled but dude. But the ball in the basket dude

he misses a ton of bunnies

he has been playing well agreed

spectre

Ha! Remember 5 per.

powellrmp

fuck man I hate this team

zero excuses about what’s happening

Zero

spectre

This dick guy is a lot better than I thought he’d be

powellrmp

He’s friends with Anthony black. Was really funny when the did a jersey exchange last year lol

spectre

Hhahaha I bet

powellrmp

SALAUN

Coach Lee: “hey kid, go nuts for about 4 minutes”

poetl looks like AD out there god

This is so embarrassing

spectre

Man everything in the paint

powellrmp

Cody bringing the ball upcourt

great sign

spectre

Something tells me grant wasn’t one of the guys living in the gym all summer

woodsy23

He was working on his Center of gravity

I’m really unhappy with everything since the 1st. I don’t think I have anything positive to say so I will stop running my mouth now

spectre

we got the Celtics next 2 times. Be nice to take this one

Bring in Melo and just like that…

Mann and Melo is a good pairing, esp. with Melo now thinking about D

Eastley

This game is giving me the hives

dnbman

Mann is the Bobby Jackson player I've always wanted us to have.

+1 1
spectre

4 team fouls already

Eastley

Dick looks so much like Celtics-era (player) Ainge

dnbman

Like when a modern artist does an manga version of an old 80s cartoon hero.

spectre

the face you just want to punch? Ha how i always felt about ainge

Eastley

That was a gorgeous tuck and roll by Melo

dnbman

parkour!

Whatever Nick's deficiencies are, I got nothing but love for him. 15-12-3 with only 2 PFs and still running the court in the 4th.

spectre

Absolutely. It’s just asking a lot being our main big with no real backup. If the unthinkable happens and mark comes back nick will look even better

Eric Collins has no equal hahah

Eastley

I fear this is getting overturned

spectre

Let’s keep this going

Eastley

Nick is inspired tonight

dnbman

For real. Beasting in the last few minutes.

Eastley

That's his one

Just one basket interference to go and he's through the wickets

spectre

Nice drive!

Eastley

We look better without Micic

spectre

Cody is having a stellar offensive game

Eastley

Martin is flat out balling

dnbman

62 off the bench from Mann, Martin, Williams

Eastley

Oh! Nick in your grill!

dnbman

LOL at the NIck dunk attempt. Place would have shaken apart.

spectre

Oh lord that was luck

nick was looking at the bench lol

Eastley

He's not been bobble hands Nick tonight

spectre

They won’t go away

Eastley

Need that meteor

spectre

Thats what superstars do

Eastley

Woah, could have been a push of on Melo there on that inbounds

dnbman

Anybody pick Martin and Richards to combine for 50?

49 technically

Eastley

Really happy as hell for Cody

dnbman

for sure. Hope that continues.

Eastley

Game, blouses

spectre

Shouldn’t have been this close but win is a win

dnbman

Game ball for me goes to Nick

spectre

offense was fun to watch tho

This was legitimately the best game I have ever seen Cody Martin have. He was a dang animal on both ends. Nice change of scenery, having to remind myself he has been hurt for basically 2 seasons straight. Maybe that is why he has looked so bad prior to this (wishful thinking).

Tre mann is legit. My second favorite player. It will be interesting watching his game as he climbs up opposing scouting reports.

Miles continues to be my least favorite. He so needs to be traded.

Yeah, it’s great finally being able to see a healthy, bouncy Cody. Even if healthy I don’t expect to see last night’s numbers every night, but that high energy, two-way ability is what earned him the extension and we’ve missed that a lot the past two years.

We needed 3 game balls because Cody, Nick and Tre were all incredible last night.

He has been very underwhelming so far.

He is the one player I get genuinely excited about when I see him at the scorer’s table. Mann has me thinking “ok, now shit’s going to happen.”

He has different layers to his game. He is gritty in an old school way.

Not disparaging melo here, melo has been the mvp no doubt, but melo is one trick pony. He shoots long (and longer threes) and drives and kicks. He still really hasn’t figured out layups with contact. He has zero pull up/mid range game. He seems to get cooking during junk times and that carries over to comebacks. Again, without melo this team as 2 20 point or greater losses. But Mann just has more adaptable game. He reminds of a different version of d wade or even a small version of jimmy butler.

I do see what you mean about Lamelo and the grit thing. He definitely gives the impression of being carefree, which is kind of the antithesis of grit, but he obviously does care. I think you can lack grit, or what we generally associate with being gritty, while still being effective. I wouldn’t say Magic was necessarily gritty. Certainly not in the same way that a more stoic guy like Dumars was, but underneath the smiles he was laser focused and highly effective in clutch situations. I think what’s hard with Lamelo is that he’s played so few meaningful games that it’s difficult to assess how effective he would actually be in those situations. I think he can be, but we won’t know for sure until we actually get good enough to play games that matter.

That’s actually an interesting observation and the parallel of him to Magic goes beyond just that aspect. Neat way to frame it.

Magic suited up at center in the finals finals and had a
42/15/7 game. Dude was gritty.

By Mann being gritty I am not implying melo isn’t. I was more saying melo seems to really only play one way and that is long jumpers and drives and kicks. Mann (although nowhere near as talented yet) has more of a swiss army knife type game
