Game 55: Hornets at Jazz

Bridges is eligible for a max contract of 173 mil/ 5 years. That would put his first year around 32 mil up to 38 mil in year five. If he finishes the season the way he is playing I think some team will offer him very close to that amount. Like 30 mil per. The 76ers only have 2 of their 17 players under contract for next season and Reed has $0 guaranteed so it is possible only Embiid will return. That gives them around 100 million in space to go after whoever they want and Bridges is on their radar. The Hornets can also afford to pay Miles 30 million per but that plus their two draft picks will eat up all their remaining cap space.

Panthers/Hornets crossover fans, who’d you rather pay $30M per year, Brian Burns or Miles Bridges?

grant williams’ personality 100% doesn’t seem to jive with luka’s. i 100% can see why he wasn’t happy.

$173/5. No thank you.

Nice win but the Jazz were on a four game losing streak. I will be impressed more when our guys beat a good team coming into the game with a four or five game winning streak. I predict a losing streak soon. At some point our guys will s**** the bed!

“Even my conditioning is conditioned.”

Sure they are overachieving a little but you can not deny the level of improvement due to the roster changes highlighted by $30m of wasted salary over 4 years and what that does to roster construction.

And one can never discount the annual “lets drop 3 slots in the lottery odds 7 wins out 8 games Feb run” that is an annual Hornets tradition

$125-135/5 Yes thank you!

Not sure if it was my bias but i was impressed with Tre’s on ball defense. He had a couple of possessions where he absolutely shut down the guy he was guarding.

It’s truly night and day in terms of communication, effort on D, ball movement, open shots created … everything!

While nobody thinks Cliff’s an ideal HC, we also shouldn’t talk out of both sides of our mouths on this.

We were crap because G League level rookies and first year players were regulars in our rotation. Cliff couldn’t coach them up, clearly, but the evidence is right there before us that he wasn’t the issue.

Now, with competent NBA rotation level players, who other franchises gave up for salary and/or fit reasons and attached picks in the process, we’re playing a really nice brand of ball and winning.

It’s simply biased and disingenuous not to acknowledge Cliff is showing he can coach an NBA roster, who don’t yet know each other, to a good level.

To my mind, it follows, if the right HC isn’t available this off-season, I’m comfortable with brining Cliff back for one more season. The players like and respect him. It’s amazing he’s never lost the locker room, even with all the losses. The wins, and the way we’re winning, show that Cliff is a capable HC. Again, I’m not pretending he’s ideal, but he’s a safe pair of hands until the ideal HC is available.

Since the trade there’s really only one guy who will bring it up, dribble and then shoot without passing. I think it’s a fair position to think he is our least skilled offensive player. It’s happened in all 5 games.

Is it just me that feels 24 doesn’t get enough looks for big stretches? I feel like thats pretty consistent too.

We need a new coach. We have plenty of history to know that and it hasn’t changed.
