I don’t think it’s reputable reporting. And even if it is, the NBA media etc. think the hornets are going to trade Melo for one 1st round pick and a song. The Hornets won’t do that. He’s not worth trading at his low value right now.
And trust me, I’m cool with moving on. But it doesn’t make any sense
I understand this sentiment but I disagree. His value is never going to increase. Between glass ankles and no pride in his profession, he will never play himself into value with Charlotte. He will have medium value as this is his first time being traded. It’s trade 2 and 3 where the value goes down.

I don’t think we’re actually disagreeing. I hear, understand, and agree with the mutual frustration with Melo-the basketball player and injuries. But trading Melo right now feels like cutting off your nose to spite your face. I mean, at least hope he gets healthy, goes on a streak, and you can get a better trade at the deadline or during the 2026 draft.
Are you willing to trade Melo for Houston’s 2026 1st round pick and Reed Sheppard, and other salary dump (Van Vleet)?
Because those are the kinds of offers it’ll be. The more realistic versions is that the hornets will have to take salary dumps. And no one is going to hand over several first round picks for an oft injured player.
Or the hornets taking a lot of garbage from Milwaukee and a first round pick. And or course some 2nds.
Or Dallas dumping the Anthony Davis contract on us for two first round picks?
Or trade for Ja Morant?

That’s what the clown emoji thing meant. Not sure if players are allowed to talk about trade requests one way or another so I would rather him avoid the topic altogether vs saying something that will be misconstrued.
But if it was a simple do you want to be traded and he said a simple no then I’m cool with that.
Players absolutely can talk about whatever “request” they have. They can’t taint the pool so to speak and say I will only play in city x but they can absolutely say “I have no desire to be traded.”
Squeezing out an additional first for Melo will never happen.
