Hornets 2025-26 Season

Lol the NBA will absolutely not give Miami that pick back. They fleeced us at the time is what everybody was saying.

The NBA will absolutely not admit any wrongdoing in this gambling thing and the rumors are just that, rumors, conjecture, speculation, most of it started by Bobby Marks.

You can’t just give a pick back 2 years later, that’s not how things work. NBA rules DO NOT require a team to disclose this information and how many games has Terry played in a Heat uniform? A lot. So yeah the trade was fully satisfied and there is nothing anyone can do at this point.

Even if the hornets did know, the NBA cleared rozier 2 months ago.

That’s the biggest stain on the NBA. They somehow did an investigation and determine there was no wrong doing and 8 weeks later he’s arrested on federal charges.

Tim D all over again. Nba is the dirtiest of the major sports

My goodness. Chris Haynes is reporting that Brandon Miller and the Hornets are seeking a 2nd opinion about the shoulder injury….. that isn’t necessarily a good sign considering that the initial diagnosis was the best case which was a subluxation. Seeking a second opinion could suggest that we believe the injury could be more serious or potentially require surgery. Video at link.

Yeahhh this is what I was worried about. Shoulder injuries are quite complicated. Anytime a second opinion is sought after, it’s usually not a good sign. I figured brandon would be looking at missing a reasonably substantial amount of time, but didn’t want to put that out into the universe quite yet. Even if it is a more common subluxation issue, the risk for re injury and other complications is quite high. If he were to come back soonish you can count on him definitely sitting on back to back games to avoid the overuse. As well as a cautious approach to minutes. Oh well, I’m hoping for the best and expecting the worst. (Like usual, I suppose. Just another season as a Hornets fan)

This team is cursed man. Absolutely cursed. It really kills my motivation and excitement to tune in and watch the games. I still will, but seeing Melo and Miller play together more has been my primary hope for the last two years or so.

This is the start of Miller’s third season. And he and Melo have only played about 40 games together. With Miller only having played in 29 games between 2024 and the present.

We may be looking at another year of not being able to truly figure out the roster if Brandon Miller is lost to shoulder injury. At a loss here guys.

But hey, we got 40 solid minutes out of brandon miller this year. So that’s good! The basketball gods/deities hate us. Man, it’s too early in the season to feel this level of disappointment. But I guess as a Charlotte Hornets fan, it’s never too early in the season to feel a sense of doom and despair.

Where’s our Hornets Law meme?? We really need to make that into a t shirt. I’d buy one.

Anyways, I’ll feign being positive! How about that Kon guy right??! This means we’ll certainly see more Kon and we will definitely learn a lot about him early in this season. And no brandon miller means we’ll also see more Pat Connaughton too! He’s got a great attitude and seems to be a good locker room guy! That’s cool! And more minutes for Sion James who has made a good early impression! Hey look! I’m using exclamation marks to indicate how excited and positive I am! I exude positivity and have an abundance of it!

Not knowing The details, I think it is safe to assume that it’s a discussion to rehab or have surgery. The article above states that non operative treatment gets player back on average of 3 weeks. But has high probability of future issues. Surgery takes on average of 19 weeks to return, with low probability of future issues.

If he has surgery now, average return is middle of March. About 13 games remaining.

If he does rehab now, tries to play the season and then consider surgery, to be ready by start of camp next year, or about October 1st, he would need to have surgery middle of May for the average return of 19 weeks. Also, with risk of re-injury during the season.

If this is the 2 opinions being considered, I think I would prefer to go ahead and have surgery. If all goes well, he could return late in the season, or just wait if they’re out of play-in consideration. Have a full off-season to work out and be ready to go fully healthy next year. This just sucks all together.

Not time to panic yet gents. I think they are just making sure.

Just finished watching the last two games and maybe it’s wishful thinking, but there seems to be something different about this team. Having high energy/effort guys like Moussa, Sexton and Sion has raised the bar and it’s contagious. I think I’ve seen Lamelo dive on the floor more this season than in his whole career combined. There have been pockets of low bball IQ play, but we seem to be able to self-correct. We gave one away against Philly. Still have to learn how to close against better teams, but I love how we are handling bad teams instead of losing to the likes of BKN and WAS as we have in years past.

It stinks that Brandon is out, but we have more quality depth than I recall in recent years. It’s safe to say that Kon is winning me over. I mostly love that fact that he’s held his own, for the most part, defensively and that’s the area I was most concerned about. And obviously his shooting has been a plus. But he’s definitely shown a maturity beyond his years. And Sion…I wasn’t in love with the pick, but if he can continue to consistently knock down 3s to compliment his energy and defense, we’ve got ourselves a guy. Kalk has been great as well. I’m pleased with Melo’s evolution and Miles has continued to find ways to be productive without being disruptive to the overall flow Tre hasn’t shot it well the last two but he’s defending at a high level and is capably running the offense. His shots will fall. We seem to be slowly, but surely creating an identity and re-setting the culture and that’s fun to see. I’m sure the season will take a number of twists and turns, but so far I couldn’t ask for much more.

I don’t think a 2nd opinion is a death knell, it’s a new training and medical staff, he might want to get a comp, which is fair and smart.

Hope so Founding!

Just to be clear, I’m definitely not jumping to a conclusion about the injury. But it doesn’t look good. Getting second and third medical opinions is rarely ever a positive sign. If anything, it indicates a degree of complexity. Given my low degree of historical confidence in the hornets medical team/training staff infrastructure, I’m hoping this new training staff is just being thorough and doing their due diligence.

Oh, and not to mention our hornets fandom trauma surrounding injuries. Anyways, the set up is bad for Brandon. Here’s to hoping for some rare good news about injuries.

That’s fair but he is the Franchise and I would not simply go on the best case scenario diagnosis either.

It’s not the training staff seeking a 2nd opinion. He is.

Good! I’m glad to hear it.

Also, what meaning should we make of Brandon himself seeking second and third opinions? Because yeah, the verbiage states that miller himself is seeking other opinions. To me at least, the optics on that aren’t good. Given the history of our medical and training staff (turnover and infrastructure), I personally do not make a positive meaning of that.

There’s a lot of different meanings to make of that very interesting tidbit

I made my arg on that above. It’s a new staff, not just to the org, but t o BMill

There’s no disagreement on my end.

Not how I understand it but maybe.

additional MRI needed as opposed to just ultrasound

passed initial test for tear but mobility did not improve

we will know soon

I don’t think there should be major alarms going off or anything. Until the Hornets come out and say Miller has to get his arm amputated, I won’t expect worst case scenarios until the worst case scenario actually happens. It’s the only way to cope as a Hornets fan, otherwise you’ll drive yourself crazy.

I’m guessing Chris Haynes probably confused getting an MRI back at home with being a second opinion. Normally when you get injured, the first and easiest scan to get is an X-ray. You can’t see ligament damage, but it’s to rule out any potential complicating fractures or dislocations. MRIs are the gold standard scan for seeing ligaments, but these are usually scheduled for a couple days or so after an injury.

Most likely scenario, rather than him suffering from an ultra rare major labrum shearing along with complete severing of nerves and disintegrated humeral head, I would think Brandon got a pretty quick x-ray and maybe an ultrasound to diagnose the subluxation. Since he was on the road trip and a subluxation isn’t an emergency that requires immediate surgery, he stayed with the team for support, and they’re just waiting to get back to Charlotte to get an MRI done with doctors they know and trust, and probably allows any swelling to go down before taking the image.

Not saying that we’re not cursed anymore or anything, but Haynes characterization of a second opinion (unless he specifically verified and sourced that it was an outside the team 2nd opinion) is likely Brandon just getting his initial MRI, even though its the 2nd “scan” of his shoulder.

So far so good. The number is actually 16 threes, not 15. Pretty impressive. 16/30 for a cool 53%. That’s a hell of a clip.
