Hornets 2025-26 Season

Man, I was just not a believer… so glad to be wrong.

Put this in the game thread. Probably better fit here

He is going to be the best player on the team in about 3 years

Whoa, you gotta warn me before you throw hot takes like that out there. Almost subluxed my shoulder.

It’s a hot take I know. Kon is really really good

He’s in legendary company it appears…

Tighten up your ankle braces, we’ve got a hot take incoming!!

I wonder if Kon will develop more on offense that would give him that top end offensive ceiling. I hope so. He’s increasingly crafty and has a bag of tools. Fakes, footwork, jabs, efficient dribble. He just looks decisive when he moves

Awful

dreams shattered

need Miller

and a beast PF enforcer

I have wanted Julius randall forever

kalkbrenner is legit. He’s skilled at contesting shots and defending near the rim without fouling. He knows exactly what he can get away with, and what will get him called for a foul. Great positioning.

This team is a shell of itself without Brandon miller. Melo has to play hero ball. It’s hard for me to consistently tune in without being able to see Miller and Melo on the floor. It’s infuriating to not know how the pieces fit. And forget winning, I just want to see those guy develop by playing minutes together.

I will continue to patiently wait for miles bridges’ contact to expire. His contract is not a trade asset. Much of the same from miles this season. To quote the talking heads, “same as it ever was…”

Kon looks solid. Confident in him. Sion James looks well rounded. I wrote about him being our Lou Dort after we drafted him.

After watching our play recently I’m starting to think more and more we have a coaching problem. I know we are playing without Brandon, but ball movement, boxing out, etc. needs to be addressed by the coaching staff.

Could be. It’s also tough having three rookies log serious minutes six games into the season. I think the Kalk/Kon/Sion trio all logged about 30 minutes each last night for example. McNeely logged about 15 minutes also. Bridges and Salaun definitely aren’t ball movers. Sexton’s strength isn’t necessary as a ball mover. And Tre Mann just hasn’t been very good thus far. (Which is a bit surprising and disappointing)

You’re right though, it’s definitely a problem. Lots of pressure squarely on Melo to do most of that.

Defense sucks. Too reliant on the 3. Don’t run any plays. Can’t handle other teams physicality, and refs let them get away with a lot. Don’t quite understand the rotations. Why do I keep doing this. Nothing ever changes.

We so need two of Miller, Williams, or Green back.

I can’t think of any team that continues to always have a main guy out of the rotation. It’s really just the worst possible luck that I can ever remember.

We have said like a broken record it’s unfair to judge anything without a full rotation, but what do you do if you never have it? It’s borderline insanity at this point.

All the vibes felt good going into the season, I thought we could have nice things for once. I was trying to stay positive on Miller’s injury, since subluxations aren’t so bad, but we got the dreaded “there is no timetable on his return” from Couch Lee, which was ominously used for Mark and Mann. And probably Micic’s fitness plan.

I mean, can’t we even get one good week together just to see what we got? I remember when we finally got the “Core Four” for the first time last year, I think it lasted 2 games? Or maybe someone got hurt that second game.

I also think the Hornets brass wanted to see how much the young guys had progressed, if they were winning early, we could easily pivot to a bolstering trade by the deadline to push us into the playoffs. But the glaring hole at PF + the inexperience at the center position is such a horrific combination, that they must be fine if things destruct one last season for this upcoming draft.

Which I was not okay with at first, but if this inevitable collapse keeps happening, then whatever, go for it. I’m sure if we got Wemby or Flagg, we’d be all in for a serious postseason run, but we can’t even hop on the mediocre treadmill, we just stay on the suck treadmill.

I’m not basketball genius, but I agree with this. I’m not ready to move on from coach Lee yet….yet. But the system has to improve.

Counter point. This offense looks not that much different from when Cliff was the coach with the same players.

I don’t know… seems to me we definitely focus on throwing up 3’s more.

Pace and space is the same. DHO, drive and kick and one on one is all they do. I think it is much melo as it is coaching
