Well, that’s why I was saying it would have to be next year. Miller’s new contract will kick in the year after next-which would make adding KD’s salary nearly impossible.
KD is signed through next year anyways.

You know all those times where we need a bucket and we go long stretches without one? KD basically eliminates those times if you stagger mins correctly. His burner is right, that Rockets team is crazy flawed and honestly they are relying on him WAY too much. He still has some left in the tank although I think this is the worst we have ever seen KD.
By the way, he is still pretty DAMN good just has lost some lateral quickness.
Na…. I think KD would kill the vibe of the team. We don’t need a guy at his age. He’s kind of a cancer wherever he goes.
Oh yeah I mean I definitely don’t think that would be a smart move unless you somehow get him for nothing but that’s not happening. Either way, we play Houston Thursday! Should be interesting considering he shit talked the entire team lol
I still feel like these next two games will be so tough. I guess the Hornets fan in me, still thinks all of this is too good to be true.
Why would KD kill the vibe of the team?
Now that we’ve tasted 20-25 game of good basketball in Charlotte after a decade without seeing the playoffs, we’re now against the idea of Kevin Durant joining the team in some kind of very short term capacity? (After the leaks explicitly talking about how great the hornets core is) ![]()
Bc I think he’d need the ball too much. He’s been kind of a cancer lately in my opinion. Why would we want to put him with the team first guys we have?
He’s still elite on offense in terms of efficiency. There’s some pretty good articles about how he’s still so efficient at 37 years old. Dishes out 4.5 assists per game also
And again, I’m talking the “ideal” situation that is never, ever going to happen. I think KD will retire before he takes a reduced role.
Listened to the most recent episode Kanye Zach lowe podcast. He and his guest were talking about which teams have a legit shot to get to the finals from each conference.
Zach named the four teams you’d expect: Detroit, Boston, Cleveland, New York. And then….”maybe the charlotte hornets?? Are they the fifth best team in the east right now?!” It’s cool hearing more and more talk about the hornets.
If somehow we were able to do a KD for Miles/Mann/Green + 2 firsts, I’d do it in a heartbeat. Obviously, that is not happening, but if Houston lost its mind for some reason, I would.
He’s still a top 10 and potentially top 5 player, he’s too good of a player to pass up if we’re not hemorrhaging the future even if we’d only have him for 2-3 more years of superstar play.
Finally the dumb all star break is over! Hornets basketball tonight. Let’s see how we push through the next few games without Moussa and Miles.
Man… If the Pacers made it to the finals last year, the Hornets can. I don’t think their team was more talented than ours. We have to keep up the good play though.
Yeah, what is happening with Coby white? The fact that he didn’t play and wasn’t even questionable to play tonight…after having a week and a half off. Yikes.
I think chef said it in another thread, I’m moving the needle on that trade to “pretty concerning.”
Pretty good audition by Durant.
Not having anything to replace Sexton’s production really hurt.
Definitely not hitting the worried button after the last two games. The fact that we had a chance to steal these games from very good teams says a lot about our new squad. Missing two starters and our 6th man/borderline starter in Coby White. So I’ll say the Hornets were missing 2.5 starters.
What I am a bit iffy about: Coach Lee’s 4th rotation antics (again). We’ve regressed back into “getting a little too cute with it” territory. My concern is that the horrible fourth quarter rotation management is influenced by some stupid, galaxy-brain, analytics based thing.
Here’s where I will press the concerned button: Coby white. According to the team, “there is no timetable for Coby white.” That’s bad. That’s not “maybe next week” or “we’ll re evaluation into next week”. That’s an 8/10 concerned meter for me. I think it’ll be at least two weeks before we see Coby white, if that.
This is a guy who we’re wanting to give a multi year 30m+ contract to. So we won’t get a real sample size of how he fits with this roster. That’s a little scary.
That stretch at the beginning of the season something like 4-17 is going to be a very difficult Hill to climb. Very low margin for error.
Luckily all of the teams 11-15 are tanking
We need to watch Milwaukee, because Giannis will be back at some point. They may want to tank, but Doc and Giannis aren’t going to be about that. Winning that season series against Atlanta was major for that reason.
That being said, we absolutely cannot lose to Washington Sunday. We lose that one, then you will see me meltdown. Lol
Watching now. Do feel kind of sad for Sexton. He looked like he had a lot of joy being around the team.
