Rest of the Association: 24-25 Season

Zero clue and in large part because she is enabled

Here’s my one take on the Clark/Reese situation. Both of those girls are incredibly talented basketball players that play fiercely, often times going overboard on the physical play. They also both run their mouths on the court. Clark is better prepped for off the court interviews and Reese is a believer in being unapologetic in her presentation. And basically for that, their personalities have become caricatures where Clark is somehow the epitome of “the right way” and Reese is “all that is wrong.” I think it’s super dumb.

This is honestly the most exciting time in women’s basketball, and it’s being talked about on the internet as if these are comic book characters representing good and evil. It’s another mind-numbing example of things being misappropriated in some kind of ill-conceived culture war.

end rant. carry on.

One of them is mj 1986 and one is a regular player who is physical and gets rebounds but lacks any special talents (pj brown, rick mahorn)

It is criminal how the league and companies like Nike are choosing to market potentially the best women’s basketball player ever.

She’s historically good at rebounding, leading the league in her rookie season and this season. I feel like that should get her more credit. Do I see her as any 1v1 rival to Clark? No, but that doesn’t mean she’s not great in her own right. Similarly, I don’t Clark is a better player than Wilson, though she certainly can be. But you don’t need to take anything from either one to give them both their due. I don’t know: just feels really weird how people treating womens’ basketball since Clark’s ascent. There’s not question she’s great for the game and making things better for everyone like Jordan. But the stories of her vs other WNBA players is just weird.

I don’t pay attention at all to the marketing. How are they messing up the marketing?

Nike still hasn’t given her a shoe. Imagine if the NBA and Nike marketed LeBron the way they marketed Clark. There is a concerted effort by the wnba to “make her earn it” despite her having skills that no other woman has ever shown.

More importantly despite her being the only thing of note in a league that loses money every year for 30 years. She literally sells out every arena in a league that can’t make money and they refuse to embrace her.

The discourse around Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark is one of the most insufferable things in sports. It’s basically inserting the worst aspects of political discourse onto two players.

We should definitely pair him up with bridges.

Good Lord that’s remarkably disturbing

If josh giddey misses this shot the bulls get the 11th odds in the lottery which means they would get the number 1 pick

Thibs is OUT in NY. Thank goodness.

Knicks are foolish

I’ve got the thunder sweeping the pacers in the finals. Going into the season, I had OKC beating the knicks in the finals 4-2. But close enough. I predict a sweep. 4-0 Thunder.

What do you think the problem is? And what do you think they should do?

I think they got the most out of Thibs as possible. Their roster isn’t flexible at this point. They went all in. Especially the 5 first round picks for bridges.

So the reality is, they’re not going to change the roster. But they can control the coaching aspect. I don’t necessarily agree with the firing, but I just saw it as necessary given the team context. It was inevitable. It would be nice to have a coach that believes in rotations instead of playing 6-7 guys only. And the starters almost the entire game…for a full nba season…and into the playoffs. When you run into fast and deep teams like the pacers and the thunder…your exhausted starters are toast.

Thibs wouldn’t dip into the bench until his team was against the wall in the ECF. Cmon.

Per Zach lowe: “against charlotte in December, a game that the knicks won by 24 points…Bridges played the first 46 minutes and 30 seconds of the game…consecutively. Not a break.”

That’s wild. But that’s how Thibs runs his guys the entire season.

The better question is who are you replacing him with? Create a flawed roster that you overpaid for and then blame the coach after getting them further than expected.

Well, those are the exact thoughts I have chef. I’m with you.

No idea who replaces Thibs that will yield magical results. I think it’s clear that Thibs formula is good and wins games, but can an exhausted starting 5 be expected to make a deep playoff run year after year? Is he willing to change that? I don’t think so.

I just think a team with the starters of the Brunson, OG, Bridges, and KAT should be better. It’s hard to be better in the playoffs when they’re run into the ground.

It would give me a chuckle to see the knicks have a horrible season next year after firing Thibs.

This is how things should work w your star player ESPECIALLY if the organization believes in him. I don’t think that Charlotte should be any different:

Note: I am not trying to offend or start a fight, I am saying that no deference to your star player is old school and you don’t want to look like a dinosaur to this younger generation.

At the very least Melo should be asked about his thoughts on the top 5 draft prospects.

When Melo helps lead the Hornets to the finals, we can give him that grace

When melo plays more than a half a season and actually looks like he cares about basketball as a profession…

Or when Melo starts to play a higher percentage of games than gordon Hayward. With Gordon’s injury woes, it’s pretty amazing to think he was more available than Melo has been.
