Rest of the Association: 24-25 Season

This is a perfect setup for the Knicks to get to the finals. It’s amazing what teams really start to fade when you are allowed to play physical basketball

I was staying silent the whole series so not to jinx anything. But that was one of the most satisfying series I’ve ever watched.

May Kenny the Coward’s karma be forever painful and miserable as long as he lives. I hope he loses every basketball game, board game, card game, video game, and any competitive thing he tries going forward. I hope he loses at every crossword and sudoku puzzle he tries.

64 wins, #1 seed, losing in 5 to a 4 seed? Hope your kids love all the great schools in frozen Cleveland, or whatever your lame excuse was.

We’re all thinking it. Screw you Kenny.

But in all honesty, I really liked how Cleveland played this year. Playoff injuries suck. I know they won a bunch of games, but they’re one piece away during from being truly great. I think they need more from Mobley, which is crazy to say given his stats and impact.

I say that because due to injury and playoff intensity you need some guys to step up. Evan Mobley is ridiculously underrated and not discussed enough. His stats and solid play is incredible, but he’s not a “take over the game” kind of guy.

Given the 5 year, 224m contract. You’d want more from him in playoffs.

Getting ready to watch game 7 between OKC and Den, I’m reminded that the Hornets drafted SGA. Why did CLT make that trade?

Did someone ask to have an old wound re-opened? Sure, I can accommodate that request:

**Charlotte initially selected point guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander from Kentucky with the 11th overall pick, but traded him to the Clippers for the 12th overall pick and second-round picks in 2020 and 2021. The Clippers then selected Bridges for the Hornets.

“He’s one of the highest character players in the draft, very athletic, plays hard, and he’s very versatile,” Kupchak said. "… There is not much to not like about Miles Bridges.**

By far the worst decision made by Mitch and Mike.

What are your take aways from the four teams in the conference finals? Any themes on their team builds?

If the NBA would allow more physical play nba basketball would be so much better to watch

They took SGA for the Clippers to net an extra 2nd round pick which I’m sure we sold for $3 million because that’s who we were back then. Lol.

The late great Rick Bonnell wanted SGA for us. He also wanted Devin Booker in the Frank Kaminsky draft. Ironically he would have been a better GM than the fools we had in place.

Did a little digging, Rick Bonnell shared a nugget that SGA refused to workout for the Hornets when he was drafted. So, maybe it was never meant to be.

Bulls reportedly finalizing a deal to hire scottie pippen as head coach

Unfortunately, it seems like OKC seems the favorite to take it. I do think Minnesota will be tough though, they have lengthy defenders to keep up, and a superstar to match buckets with SGA. I think OKC has more depth and a particular aggressiveness that will be hard to match.

New York and Indy will be a fun series. Wouldn’t be surprised if Indy pulls it off. Their depth of hard nosed, grind it out role players is something I wish we could emulate.

But if I’m going Silver/Vegas/DraftKings conspiracy theory, if the West is gonna be the Oklahoma and Minnesota markets, they absolutely want the New York market in play for the finals. I think Minnesota vs. Indy is their absolute nightmare, and David Stern would rise from the grave to prevent that from happening. Gonna see a lot of Scott Foster and Tony Brothers on the east coast for the series.

criminal all time choke job by the knicks

That was an awesome game. Don’t know what was wrong with Hali earlier this year (there’s an article somewhere talking about it) but that dude has some magic in his veins. And I can’t stand Reggie Miller, but that choke celebration was perfectly timed and placed… though risky, cause it would’ve looked dumb as hell if they lost.

I’m really jealous of Indy’s plethora of scrappy wings that can shoot. We have guys that are scrappy that can’t shoot, or guys that aren’t scrappy that also can’t shoot. I’d kill for a Nesmith or Nembhard. Or Mathurin. Hell, even TJ and Obi. Knicks got them in OG and Bridges and Hart, OKC got all of them, Wolves too.

Caris Lavert is one of those that are available this year. Nickeil Alexander-Walker is another cheaper option. Of course, VJ is another prototype of this, I know his shot is just ok right now, but can become a weapon with some work.

NBA shuddering at a pacers/okc finals

Maybe, but I think a Halliburton vs Shai finals is new and potentially interesting to a lot of viewers who are burned out on the previous generation stars. The choke added a little bit of interest too, as now you have people rooting for and against Indy because of it.

But who knows.

You know I wonder if Angel Reese has any idea just how much of a meme she has become in the world. And that none of it is complementary in any way.
