The earliest NBA games you attended

Hope the leader(s) of this site don’t mind the topic. I thought it would be fun to hear everybody’s stories.

My first game was actually in Atlanta in 1981, and I have a lot to say about it, but I hope to hear another few folks’ stories first.

My second game was watching the new Hornets defeat the Sixers in Dec. 1988. 23,000 screaming fans. First win over an above .500 team. Rex Chapman drawing a charge on Charles Barkley to seal the win. Barkley throwing a tantrum. Kelly Tripucka heroics. Complete strangers high fiving in the cheap seats and I was one of them. I had just moved to Charlotte, was still playing pickup ball, the NBA was great then, and I was hooked! It would be amazing to recapture that energy in the downtown arena with a winning team. The closest thing to it for me was attending an Orlando Magic playoff game in 2010, before Jameer Nelson exposed the heck out of Raymond Felton.

Earliest game I remember being at was the 1993 playoff win vs the Celtics. Zo hit ‘the shot’ and the place went wild. The whole game was a super fun experience.

That’s incredible! Your earliest attendence memory was the best game in Hornets history. I loved that season and team.

For me it was a random game in 1990 against the Washington Bullets at the old coliseum. We left early in the 3rd quarter to beat the traffic lol.

Best game I ever attended in the old coliseum was Game 3 in 2001 sweeping Miami out the playoffs. That was one of the last great moments of the old Hive. Those “Sweep The Heat” chants will live me forever!

I went to a Bobcats game in 2006 but I was only 7 years old. The first game I really remember clearly was in 2010 against the Hawks,Gerald Wallace had a great game and GWMVP was born. I was hooked on basketball after that, we didn’t have a TV so I listened every night on the radio.

I love this. GW must not be forgotten. Well worth the price of admission! The working man’s baller.

First pro game was some game in the 93-94 season. The only thing I remember is that Zo got tossed for techs in the first half. Was sort of a let down.

Had been going to Wake games since the 70s at old memorial coliseum.
