Welcome to the Hive Charles Lee

Agreed, very much so. It’s crazy seeing this organization get it right, and hiring the competent selection.

There was a moment when I really thought jj redick was the guy and it felt like the most classic hornets move.

But no, thank god. Hopefully this is a sign of a new organization pivoting towards competence.

They took the cheap way out… We need an experienced head coach… 2/3 years we’ll have to rebuild again… If there’s even a season next year let’s see what happens in this crazy world we live in

You think this team should have paid Mike Budenholzer 50 million dollars instead? If this was a team ready to contend maybe, but otherwise absolutely not

Even if this team was on the precipice of contending, with years of Lee being top of the up and coming coach list, I still think he’s the right hire.

Id say Lee’s time I’m Boston definitely serves as “experience”.

Good article

“I’m up for the job. I’m up for the task. I have energy for the task and the people I’m going to surround myself with are going help me with that task. With what Jeff and his group are building along with ownership, I think we have the right people in place to kind of push us through some of these lean years.”

@cltblkhscoach and others who are tired of rebuilding/developing… Does this sound like they expect to be in the playoffs anytime soon?

Good catch.

No, it does not. I think it’s more than fair to not make any notable moves, ie moves that consume significant future resources, until Lee knows his roster and is fully settled in.

Let’s see what can be done in this year’s draft and with Bertans’ contract. Otherwise, next season will be a foundational one for Peterson & Lee.

It was a great article and I meant to say so a couple of days ago. As I mentioned on the draftee thread, the coach is known for developing talent. We have lots of young talent and will likely add to our wealth in the draft.

Anyway I like the positivity he brings and I appreciate the outreach efforts he has made to the players. Folks I think we are in for a new era.

Speaking of the draft because it’s heavy on my mind - I hope that ownership will give coach a chance to offer his thoughts. Hopefully the C’s can wrap things up to give coach a chance to jump right in as soon as possible!

I already know they’re planning to be down for the next two years, I’m resigned to it. I moved my tickets to the upper level this year and I’ll probably be done giving them money after that.

It lines up with the Spectrum Center renovations timeline and the current contracts on the team. I highly doubt they resign Miles as a result.

I’ll always be a fan but it is what it is man. They’ll pick a project at 6 and hope he develops, like we always do.

Did I hear that Charlie Lee is going to try to coach the summer league squad? That would be great.

Can he run point? We haven’t had a summer league PG since…never.

I ready that too. Love that he wants to get in there straight away and not miss time instilling his philosophies on to the younger players.

Strange how excited i am that i recognize no once-wases or even names I’m that familiar with

Ouch!

I do believe that I am the biggest Miles advocate on this board. I am looking for a POSITIVE reason to revive Miles’ dedicated thread.

If we take a deliberate step backwards, by not paying Miles, then what are we going to do w that 40 million in cash this year?

It makes sense to pay Miles for 2 to 3 years. I will watch to see how this develops.

I think that I can work with this:

I would rather do nothing with the money then resign miles to 25m+. Character aside, he isn’t a good enough player to warrant that kind of contract.

I’m definitely in the group valuing Miles the least but I’d still re-sign him with the plan to flip for something else. IMO the best case scenario would be a S&T where we get an asset + 1st.

I really want to stay in the range between tax and over the cap

Good insight.

Player development and big man focus. Exactly what we need.

On the subject of “lean years”…I mean, we’re all familiar with the fine ham biscuit (Sam Vincent) of coaches. Could coach Charles Lee be our lean ham biscuit?

Lean years are a drag, but help you capture the (Cooper) Flagg?

Anyways. Back to actually basketball talk.
