If you apply the old NBA Front Office Show adage of “who benefits from that?” regarding all the machinations of Miles loves Clifford (or Clifford loves Miles - cannot recall which way that went) and that the Hornets now plan to re-sign him in July; who does benefit from that? I really doubt Cliff said squat, but maybe that’s his agent trying to get him secured for another year. I doubt the Hornets leaked we are planning to re-sign him in July - after all, we fired our GM the following Monday. Or that was the intentions of the guy that is no longer employed in that job. Either way, the only ones that benefit from this would seem to be guys trying to get contracts. Ergo, I would bet - if I were a betting guy - that Klutch is trying to drive up DET’s interest and price point rather than anything else.

trade Bertans, his contract is great for a contender looking to cut salary … maybe they have a young player not getting game time and a 1st round pick they don’t want to give guaranteed money to?
trade Richards for assets and replace his roster spot with a stretch 5 or tough, traditional 5
A simplistic roster, where our needs are a starting SG & a vet C, Bertans and Richards are traded, and Miles is resigned:
LaMelo, Micic, Mann … really strong position
?SG?, NSJ, Seth … a starter away from having the backcourt depth sorted
Miller, Cody, Bryce … work to do at the back-up spots, but Miles will play ‘down’ some
Miles, Grant, Thor … Thor’s spot definitely under review
Williams, ?C?, Nnaji … a stretch 5 is needed
A scenario where we draft Ja’Kobe Walter, to develop into our starting SG, pick up a further 1st and draft Filipowski, to be our small ball 5/big ball 4, would be intriguing to me.
I actually agree with you there. I was just trying to spitball a big name. I really would like an inside out big either 4 or 5 but other than jokic or embiid they really don’t exist right now.

This is just a question out of pure ignorance. Can filipowski be some version of Myles Turner or sabonis? Obviously not in overall talent but in game? Or can he be a version of brook lopez?
I would almost be tempted to take him if the hornets did go .500 and fall into 11-8 range.
I would also be really tempted to take the big dude from Iowa late 1st early 2nd. Basically, have 3 centers of different skill sets on the roster for less than $20m total.
