What do you guys think about signed Mo Bamba in the off season? He could be stretch C3 and PF. Might be able to get him on a reasonable contract.
If Miles continues to be a key contributor on and off the court and our team finishes this season strong, I see no reason to trade him. He missed a little over a season but has come back fairly strong and is getting around to playing like he did a couple seasons ago! It is not like he is at an age where talent subsides fast for most athletes! Outside of him once again resorting to beating up his ex as well any other women, or committing any other felonies, and/or his on court performances falling significantly, If he is not looking to break the bank and can be resigned for a fair price, I think he should remain a Charlotte Hornet.
Trading him wonât faze me but I think his talent is as such that I think he fits our team!
At what price?
If our team finishes this season strong, why make any drastic changes? As far as I am concerned a NCAA season where the talent isnât thought to be significantly better high in the lottery than in the back half of it, I donât feel we need to tank! If we can finish this season strong than we shouldnât do much to disrupt the chemistry and talent at this teams disposal! That is just my opinion on the matter.
There are only so many ankle braces that can be worn. For what Melo is being paid I would grin and bare it and quickly find a pair to wear so I could help my team win. That is just the way things are and he owes it to the owners, his teammates and his fans to overcome his discomfort and get back to playing the game he says he loves!
Locked on said Miller is wareing ankle braces now . I think the 260 Million dollar man should find a pair yesterday . Or at least give us good reason why he isnât wareing them .
I am not a GM or owner but based on him and his agent not making demands that make it hard to make any future moves the team would feel they need to make, I think that says it all.
If another team values him beyond what we feel he is worth than so be it!
excuse me sir. we are all gmâs and owners. virtually and completely fantasy but gmâs nonetheless.
so, given the constraints of the cap and salaries on the books as well as value against similar players, what is milesâs next contract worth to you?
Whatever they feel allows them plenty of flexibility in regards to making future moves.
Excuse me sir but we all donât do math well or try to figure out cap space. I would say he is worth a little more than the four year 60 million originally offered and an amount less than the five year 173 million possible before his legal issues. I am for an average contract of 22 to 25 million a year for at least 5 seasons if his availability and level of play the rest of the season warrants it. Of coarse for me level of play also has to take into account how his contributions affect the team.
Melo is great when he can play and him and Miles have good chemistry but Miles can be counted on to play more games, and he has carried a substantial load due to Meloâs frailty.
How much is Melo being paid riding the pine while injured? Miles deserves a fair amount for being mostly available and posting numbers as good as he had prior to his legal trouble. Should his legal trouble be ignored? No but his taking ownership of that trouble shouldnât be either.
Excluding any bias what would you say is fair?
The above All Hornets podcast with Plowright and the guy considered to be âthe most prominent independent NBA injury analyst there isâ confirmed what I thought I recalled about our medical staff led by Joe Sharp that itâs one of the more highly regarded in the league. I know Eric Collins has referenced him as the best in the business on many occasions and has alluded to his time in OKC during the Durant/Westbrook/Harden days as did the expert on this pod. He seemed to feel the nature of the rash of injuries weâve had over the past two years are relatively flukey, unpredictable and not indicative of systemic failures on the part of the training staff. He was very supportive of Sharp and felt confident that while the team may not provide the most extensive injury updates (which was common among many other teams) the medical staff is constantly evaluating player injuries and he agreed with the course of actions/treatment taken with our players.
Regarding the ankle braces with Melo, my takeaway was that thereâs no significant evidence to support its effectiveness over tape, itâs more of a preference and therefore a bit overblown in my opinion.
MJ effect
I know him. Love him⌠but it is what it is
I can be sorta ok here. I just canât stand his bbiq and general lack of defensive awareness. He does score though and there is a place for that.
I think players will soon see that they can get a lot of love and support from their teammates and fans for being complete players and not just focusing on one aspect of their game, âmainly scoring,â and that will bring about positive change going forward!
Dude thatâs a good pull! I like the comp. Wasnât he waved from the bucks?
Also: WHOA. I just saw a picture of current NBA marques bolden. He looks a lot different from what I remember of him in college.
Thatâs a great post, thanks for that info SM! Thatâs great to hear that we have a good guy in house. And cool hearing the praise of the podcast guest.
I struggle with that though because itâs still coming from someone out of the organization who just happens to know a guy. And it sort of conflicts with reports about our infrastructure being very thin (the tweet I posted).
Itâs conflicting info and I wish we could get more information to really figure this out.
I think, pulling the bits of info and putting them together, we have a very well respected guy at the top but an underfunded department. Thankfully, it appears as though Schnotkin are ready to invest in the infrastructure of the club. Something MJ, seemingly, didnât do much of.
Iâve actually often wondered about this aspect of it, especially considering his injury history and how weâve witnessed Lonzoâs struggles with injury and his inability to get healthy. I guess if there is a genetic component, thatâs not something anyone can control, which makes the future potentially even scarier.
Some of us were saying this before his extension. I think he is injury prone. I donât see these as random/freak injuries that are oddly random.
Yeah landing on a guys ankle is definitely genetic.
Maybe recovery time could be or pain tolerance? IDK I think the skepticism around Lamelo is getting out of hand. Hopefully hes out tonight because it is a back to back and start of 3 games in 4 nights
No worries heâs out . He wonât get better til he becomeâs a Laker or on a team of his choice. If Miller can can go to ankle braces in his first try .Melo should be able to do the same. Guess he canât heâs had all season to try.I bet he will warm up again without the braces . Canât understand how he can warm up run , cut. jump, and shoot so many games with a ankle that bad.
