My argument is that “building around” Miller doesn’t have to include trading Lamelo. Why can’t you build around both? Trading Lamelo sets us back short term and long term.
Embiid played 31 games his first 3 seasons. Thats better than Lamelo? You are blinded at this point
His last injury report said he had tendonauthory of the right ankle . Witch is a degeneration in and around the tendon. It said it could take three months to a year to get better . If injured again the healing period could be longer. Or permanent.
because melo doesn’t play. he is always hurt and now eating $40m a year in cap space
Admittedly I missed the first two seasons. Good point. I stand corrected. Embiid should qualify for Eastley’s question.
His contract doesn’t start until next season. There will be a day when all of you eat these words

Right, so next season he starts eating up a huge percentage of the cap and has to this point proven he can’t stay on the court.
I don’t know why I see so much more in Lamelo than you guys. Maybe I always wanted an ultra talented star for this team and I guess he is the one.
I think the injury stuff will sort itself out. He was actually quite durable his first two seasons despite the freak wrist injury. We are really just talking about one injury, the right ankle injury which has plagued him for a year now. I think he will sort it out and prove everyone wrong. I’m not into kicking a man while he is down, particularly when that man is 22 with an entire career ahead of him and has shown a major commitment to our team.
We’re all on the same team here. I think we can all agree that: a) Lamelo is exceptionally talented, and b) the number of games Lamelo has missed due to injury to this point is extremely alarming, especially in light of the max extension.
If he can ever establish relatively consistent health, I don’t think anyone would be seriously entertaining moving him. Perhaps he will. I hope so. But there’s also a chance he battles chronic injuries the rest of his career. None of us can predict what the future holds in that regard, which gives rise to the concern. It’s not a matter of not liking or believing in Lamelo. But we’ve all seen numerous examples of how injuries have derailed the careers of guys who are supremely talented. Derrick Rose and Grant Hill come to mind. I think we all see an all-star, and potentially all-NBA caliber player when he’s healthy, but since he’s not, and hasn’t been for the better part of the last two years, the concerns are valid.
As an aside, I totally forgot that Embiid had missed his first 2 seasons. I remembered him missing the whole first year, but not the first two. Interesting to note that he’s still never played more than 68 games in a season. But I’d still take 60ish games of him at an MVP level and figure out the rest.
Excellent post. I think you summed it all up very well.
For me, it is solely his injury history that means I would listen to offers. It would still have to be a big offer, as his talent is immense, but I’d listen.
I think we’d all rather live in a world where LaMelo and the Hornets figure it all out, and he gets beyond his injuries.
Melo has missed almost 40% of games to be played.
Cliff bringing the truth hammer.
Spitting truth. He should still be relieved of duty and offered a FO advisor position in some capacity
Malik Monk, James Bouknight and other guys drafted in that range say hello… from the bench under Clifford. lol…
Feel like we don’t have Duren partly cause -too many rookies/too much youth- for Clifford.
He ain’t getting fired for rookies but he’ll do it for some below mid vets! ![]()
That is quite possible. The kids love him. The game has just passed him by
You mean Malik Monk favorite for 6th man of the year!
Still don’t miss him. Best of luck to him though.
I miss him a little. A smidge. I just wanted to see him excel, but it wasn’t in the cards for him. He just needed to grow up first. Sometimes we all need a little failure to challenge our mindset. Some people respond to this in healthy, adaptive ways-and well, some people stay rigid and stuck in their thinking.
Here’s some league wide stats from the stretch of last 6 games. Sure, the competition hasn’t been all that stout, but it’s still an insane improvement for us. Even though the teams weren’t good, we still had to beat them. And it’s the NBA-anyone can play well any given night. The injury riddled Griz team we beat turned around and beat the Bucks shortly after losing to us.
