2023-24 Hornets General Discussion Thread

100 times out of 100 I would say yes to this. Immediately vaults us into top 4 in the east and then we can still resign Bridges if wanted

I have seen a different version of this where it is this years pick and melo

I’m not doing four firsts for Steph - especially not the Dallas pick. And I love him but not under Jeff would I do this. That would have Brooklyn Nets written all over it.

What Chef said, yes I would do.

I think Lamelo has much higher value than any collection of 1sts that we have.

When he plays, sure.

I am hoping Melo seeing what Anthony Edwards is doing in Minnesota lights a fire under his ass. That can be us.

Not a surprise, but Miller named finalist for ROY.

There were no surprises among the finalists for Rookie of the Year, with the top two picks in the 2023 draft – Wembanyama and Charlotte Hornets forward Brandon Miller – joined by the 2022 second overall pick, Thunder center Chet Holmgren.

Glad to see that James is still writing. When I heard about the layoffs at SI, I was worried.

I will go w injuries as my top disappointment. Within the Melo criticism, a poster said that our All Star point guard doesn’t realize the gravity of his words. Okay likely true, but Melo did implicate poor and reckless judgment on the part of the training staff by speaking the God knows truth. He said that they have been giving him off the shelf crap for his ankle - instead of custom made braces.

Star player, crap from Walmart - that’s some ignorant ghetto @ss sh!t*. I don’t like calling for people’s jobs but if you don’t have the professional awareness to know that you go all out for your $100 million dollar player, then you are a potential danger to the players especially when we are talking about health and fitness.

There is a serious question regarding malpractice that should be pursued vigorously.

*For those who didn’t get my anger and cynicism, the Walmart reference was for illustrative purposes only.

I’d like too see some trade like this with picks being involved

Hornets get:
Paul
Bridges
Moody

Nets get:
Mann
Richards
G. Williams
Wiggins

Warriors get:
Simmons
Curry
Martin
Bertans

Why would the Warriors want Simmons?

If Luka can step up his defense this year like he’s been doing there’s no reason why Melo can’t do the same.

I don’t think Ben Simmons wants Ben Simmons.

Lamelo has stepped up his on ball defense a lot already. Still think he wil improve on it quite a bit more.

Off topic but i have had similar issues with hornets security (obviously not courtside but still) Why are hornets security so uptight?

I’ve never had an issue with them. The head of security is a great guy, but the supervisor they reference is a bit uptight.

The thing is, there is a reason for the way they are with the fans and it’s probably the direction they get from the top. Something could have happened and they instituted a zero-tolerance policy.

If it were me, I would give fans some leeway, but it’s all about the stance you want to project as an organization. I would bet they will have some discussions as a result of this feedback and you will see some changes next season as a result.

From Rod Boone this morning:

ā€œPlayers, doctors, trainers, executives, coaches all need to be on the same parallel because, according to a source with direct knowledge of the situation, that hasn’t been the case for the Hornets. Especially this past season. So, they have to determine what the issue is and fix it for the betterment of everyone involved.ā€

This is horrible. I am hoping that the level of professionalism can be kicked up a notch or two by the new owners.

Guys, this is why nobody is looking to come here unless they get super paid. Okay, I will look at this from a positive perspective - this is our big chance to change for the better. This should all play out over the summer.

This is on the money unfortunately

Any chance we could see an Anthony Davis for Ball trade?:thinking:

If we give up on Lamelo for 2 years of Davis I will be pissed. I don’t think you are going to see Lamelo get traded this offseason. If he is hurt all next year maybe. But lets not give up on a 22 year old potential superstar yet.
