2024-25 Hornets General Discussion

Funny how Anthony Davis passed a physical after being out weeks for an adductor strain and after a half a game back he’s right back out for multiple weeks with the same injury.

FWIW, just talked with someone connected with the Hornets and it is final. It was final Sunday but not before the injury report for the DET game.

Iim glad the Hornets are standing up to them bc the whole thing is BS. We all know we will lose but I’m glad we didn’t just sit on our hands. I feeel so bad for Mark though

I’m glad to see we aren’t punk b*tches. Only right thing is to give us the #1 pick we haven’t had since 1991.

If he didn’t fail the physical… Then how can they stop the trade??

Well, Knecht is on the bench, and Mark is MIA. What a nutcase of a situation.

Very accurate, but also I feel like getting punched in the mouth and nose repeatedly is also part of Hornet Fan headaches.

Knect didn’t play in the first half. :person_shrugging:

Edit: he’s not in uniform

The way it seems TO ME… is that the Lakers seem to have said they don’t like what they see in his physical for his health 5-10 years down the road which is kinda sus…

" According to ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne, the Lakers "needed to feel confident he’d be healthy enough to be their starting center for the next 5-10 years" but didn’t feel he could do so after the physical."

That’s not exactly how I’ve understood failing physicals works.

It’s like they made the trade then started to get cold feet after the fact given what they gave up. Looked over his physical and although they determined his back was ok to play for the near future understanding they were going to be on the hook to resign him they decided they weren’t comfortable BUT again… that’s not exactly how failing a physical works I don’t believe.

Rest assured by Hornets Law we’re gonna get screwed regardless though.

Keith Smith explained it yesterday that it doesn’t have to be anything untoward on either side. The Lakers could have seen something and said “what the hell?” And we could have seen that same thing in his initial physical and never thought it was an issue, present it future concerning.

Now while I trust that is accurate, I think the bigger issue here is that the Lakers undermined the players dirtied earning potential in how this was done. It’s not like a broken bike like I’m the Train Chandler case where that will heal and not dog him in future contracts.

If the Lakers have a case, and found something actionable, I imagine the Hornets and Mark/his agent will want to just get heads down and back to work. If it seems bullshitty in the least and they did this for superfluous reasons, I expect us and Mark to pursue it hard AF.

It’s kinda insane that the Lakers did the trade to begin with. Any kid with a phone can spend 10 minutes researching Mark Williams and know that he is definitely suspect as a long-term starting center.

I can honestly see a world where the Lakers’ FO made this trade like the QB that throws the deep gamble pass knowing he already has a flag on the field for an offsides. So if he throws an INT, they take the 5 yards. In this case, they gave us the overpay trade for Mark, and if he looked BETTER than they expected, they would accept, if he was what they expected or they found out he had a headcold, they accepted the penalty.

That’s my highly conjecturing thought on it - but it does kinda make sense thinking that they could come back to L&L saying - hey, we tried to get you defense, and we were willing to pay for it… sorry it didn’t work out. We’ll get you help in the offseason.

ding ding ding! i’m very glad the hornets FO have pressed back.

Same. It’s good in the sense they are defending Mark’s future earnings and or general perceived competence. Vicine is saying he hears we are pissed about this, which is good.

This is exactly what i wanted the hornets to do. The damage the Lakers have done with this little stunt is significant. I think the Hornets going after the Lakers is what they need to do. My hope is that if the Hornets are the proactive party it’ll help clear their name and reputation. If the Hornets are transparent and turn over everything they need to in this investigation…I’d hope it helps clear their name and reputation of the front office.

I highly doubt the deal will be…“un-rescinded”? The trade is likely long gone. Would be hilarious somehow if after review, the league forced the trade through after all of this. What a fuck you to the lakers that would be. Very doubtful, but a fun idea.

I find it weird that I haven’t heard espn talk about the investigation yet. I feel it should be a pretty big story but I guess bc it makes the Lakers look bad, they won’t mention it?

Absolutely they won’t. They have the two faces of NBA, LeBron and Luka.
