I’ve heard much the same, which is fine by me. We’d get him at a better contract value and maybe, just maybe, it clicks for him at his second stop?
From Rod Boone article…
The Hornets are also going in another direction with their training staff, recently parting ways with their longtime director of healthcare and sports performance Joe Sharpe, per league sources. Taking a look at the Hornets’ injury situation was among the tasks of Hornets’ ownership this offseason.

I never want to lose a game to Cleveland again
Joe was a very nice guy, but yeah they had to overhaul this
Thank you god. Nothing changes if nothing changes.
Yeah, needed to happen.
Though winning is quite a salve.
Even if Joe and staff were doing all the right things, a change had to be made. Can’t have all those injuries and games missed and not go in a different direction.
Changes seemed to be needed. Hopefully this will send the right messages to the players (Melo particularly) and potential free agents.
So far ownership is making all the needed moves.
Just remembered - this was number 1 on my off season wish list.
I just now figured out the meaning of your post. Yes, absolutely agree.
Since Cleveland hired Kenny, then that should clear the way for Detroit to hire J Borrego and THAT could lead to us trading Miles for the 5th pick in the draft or….it could lead to nothing.
And that is how you wild @ss speculate!
We should sign OG Anunoby! Get em!
By the wonderful Mr.Plowright! This is interesting though. Especially considering by the number he had a disappointing euroleague season then out with a back injury. Curious to see if the new management might just cut him loose
“Against his will” is just strange phrasing. You’re a 2nd round pick, your will doesn’t have any say unless your dad is the all time leading scorer in NBA history.
I’m guessing Nnaji in fact never said this, of course everyone has preferences, but if a team likes you in the 2nd round, they’re going to take you. And as the article said, this is so common across the NBA over the years that it doesn’t garner much attention, yet once again the Hornet being used as a negative example sure helps our sterling reputation around the league.
I know MJ is not in charge anymore, but agents and media around the league must really hate that guy. Granted, some is deserved, but a lot of these nitpicky negative articles over the years is a little too extra not to be targeted.
I don’t know, I fully expect James to have done his homework. And yes, he did state that he was quoting Givony.
If the selection was “against his will”, then he is a prime candidate for a trade this year. And we will need another 3rd C.
I’ve seen this name thrown around in a couple of trades online but I think it would be interesting if we could trade for Jaden Ivey. He’s both sg and can play pg. Thoughts
I am all in on ivey
Oh, I didn’t mean that directed for Plowright, I 100% was referring to Givony.
Its easy for Givony to say, Nnaji got caught up in a common situation for 2nd rounders where the team decided to stash him instead of buying him out, and his playing time and back injuries caused some frustration and complications for this upcoming season.
But no, it was “Nnaji was held captive, taken completely against his will and his dying wish by who else, of course the dastard Hornets empire who throws puppies into swamps for fun.” That incessant, unnecessary spiciness to the team has worn thin for me.
Can teams sign and trade their own free agents on draft night? I’m too lazy to google it.
Paging FoundingHornet, you still got connects with the team? If so are you hearing anything about trading back or any interest in players via free agency?
