Arrest Warrant out for Miles

Right. Did anyone blame religion for his actions?

Not at all. But folks (a lot of places) dipped into a lens that made them not accurately view the totality of a situation

This is a thread we should largely all agree on. Can we not go down the road of finding things to argue about here?

Alright, I think we should be easy here. Being religious, or being spiritual, or being an atheist has no bearing on the actions of others, it has no bearing on analyzing whether we should forgive or give second chances, it has no affect on the ability to view the context properly.

All levels of so called spirituality can carry the same morality, or lack of morality, depending on the individual. But we should not include any religious beliefs or non belief for the reasons to correctly or incorrectly assess a situation. The only unifying fact is that Miles is an unrepentant bastard that needs the hammer to come down hard by the team.

That’s exactly what I’m saying.

I never said anything negative or disparaging towards religious or non religious people.

All I was saying is that despite one’s chosen lens, there is an unfortunate reality behind what miles did. And that it was never an isolated act. Objectively, when something that severe happens in an abuse/DV world, it means that pattern of behavior has been happening for a long time.

And it’s disgusting.

Steering the conversation back to basketball operations, I have a few questions

What is the procedures for the the league and/or Hornets now?
What is the timeline for actions?
Is there the possibility the Hornets can get the cap space back from a legal/contract law grounds?
If there is, what can the hornets do to improve the roster?

I gotcha. Just felt things starting to veer towards a messy debate on belief systems that have nothing to do with this idiotic place we’re at.

I think a player can be cut by a team at any time, maybe they follow certain procedures to not violate any clauses or bring about legal issues with the players association.

I’m pretty sure there were dozens of memos from the league office and Hornets legal team about actions and future situations, how to protect each organization, etc. I would like to think having contingent clauses for behavior, and generally just being able to not commit crimes, especially someone already caught up in the system, would be included in a new contract.

I still like the Biz idea best for 3rd center. Very mature, respected. Holds people accountable. Already gets along with most of the team, especially Melo, the most important young player we have. And probably important presence to model professionalism with Miller and Nick.

For the wing spot, we could sign Terrence Ross, TJ Warren, or Will Barton to be a solid backup with added professionalism. Or JaMychal Green for a bigger body.

A couple of nights ago I subscribed to Directv Stream and switched on the Hornets game when it came on.

It was a weird experience to see that team live on the court again. I swear it felt like PTSD. I immediately had a negative reaction towards them like an abuse victim might.

I don’t care what the eff they do or don’t do with Miles Bridges. The courts will figure it out as criminal or not and the Hornets can do what they will or won’t. It’s not for me to be his judge. That woman must seriously know his triggers and man he seems very very stupid. But, not my call.

I’m just feeling like I need to get away from the whole damn franchise. But not sure I can shut it off. Need the fix.

yup. my feelings exactly. the nba got so bad over covid i picked up hockey. i have such a pleasant feeling watching the hurricanes. it’s like watching sports in the 90’s. you just watched cheered and then went on with life.

something about the modern cost of being a fan. i am with you, i really should just quit the hornets altogether and become a very casual nba fan. i really don’t like the state of basketball these days.

How much did that set you back if you don’t mind me asking?

Can’t get the hornets on YouTube tv

Since you have to get the Choice package, it’s $99. I think there’s some introductory deals if you’re a new customer, so check for those.

I think YouTube is like $73, so adding the Ballys app will take you to $93. But I heard the app is terrible, so maybe it’s still better just to switch.

You can pause your YouTube tv throughout the season and you won’t get charged, then switch back next spring.

These seem to be the only options until ballys is drained of all its life.

Updated article says incident with pool balls happened Oct. 6. If this is confirmed, and it appears it is true, he should be gone ASAP. If media can find the info, the FO should be able to as well.

Wish the best for Bridges’ children, and hope the whole family finds some kind of peace.

But time to move on for the Hornets.

Looking more and more like Miles is a bust. Worse he might actually have dangerous psychological issues. D@mn.

Instead of being a year or two away, we are now 2 or 3 years away.

Will somebody PLEASE close my Miles 2023/24 Team Hornets thread.

It’s time to move on.

I am going to get flamed for saying this but in America you are innocent until proven guilty…

Hopefully this turns out to all be BS.

Been a tough 16 months trying to be optimistic

I really don’t want this to blow up into a contentious thing, but here’s the thing. You can’t say you respect people’s faith, and then proceed to make comments suggesting that people of faith are incapable of viewing this situation accurately, are detached from reality or have an inferior understanding of the nature of people. That’s pretty much the opposite of respectful and very condescending.

I’m a Christian. I believe in redemption and that all sins can be forgiven. I also don’t support domestic violence, don’t assume that this was a first or isolated incident and absolutely don’t think Miles deserves to be on this team or any team if he is in fact a repeat offender. Furthermore, I don’t recall hearing even one person say otherwise, so I fail to see why you even needed to bring religion into this conversation. But all I ask is that you just make your point without throwing shade and condescension about as you do it.

Yeah $99 per month and I hear it’s going up to $109 next month. Need the Choice plan.

But it works great. Two nights ago they started with the Hawks game and I thought Oh no you don’t; but they switched it after like 10 seconds.

I heard on Ballys you can’t fast forward thru commercials, gotta watch them. Not sure, but that would be a deal breaker for me.

Right? Goodness.

It’s bad guys and the front office is scrambling.

I bet they are.

We need some functional, rotation/bench vets in here to steady this ship asap. Biz, or similar, is an easy given at the #5, but we absolutely need a #4 too.

That’s without repeating calls for a genuine back-up PG, which looks like it’s not going to happen. We can at least muddle through on the wings, as is, unless Cody is genuinely done.

Not a good spot to be in.

I really respect your articulation and thought, but I never said or meant a lot of what you’ve extrapolated from what I’ve said. It seems a whole lot has been extracted from a little.

You’re certainly allowed to feel that way and make the meanings you’d like, and I support you. And I totally support you if you feel like you need to defend something, but I’m not sure what youre saying aligns accurately with what’s actually been said.

All I was saying is that when people do things like miles bridges did, the reality transcends whatever belief system (religious, non religious, value systems, moralistic) someone holds. The reality is that when someone is guilty of extreme behaviors, they’ve been doing it for a long time and it’s a chronic issue. And unfortunately, the more you scratch the surface, the worse it gets. And behavior that has been happening for that long doesn’t just ā€œstopā€.
