What a beautiful revelation: halftime and in-game adjustments.
I’m glad I got my tiny bet in for Coach Lee for the coach of the year award. Slim chances but why not?

Needed to have Brandon’s dunk memorialized here. I remember one time some weird notion that he actually wasn’t that athletic around the draft…
Man, sucks we don’t have original Ashley anymore. I do like new Ashley, even though she was just a fill in. She has a recurring weekly segment with the radio guys, she’s pretty witty and likes to keep things on the positive side.
As I’m thinking about the game, it kind of reminded me of the times whenever we’d play a team that was weakened with injuries, without a couple of their stars, somehow still play really hard, fight, and end up beating us. Except this time that was us for once.
Normally under Uncle Cliff or JB, that early huge deficit was insurmountable. But there was no give up and slumping of the shoulders, there was constant fight and energy.
Melo makes the game look easy, I love the unselfishness when he had a wide open 3 and swung it to Miller for the 4 point play. Tre-llen Mannverson has been a hell of a revelation. Even Seth being back and healthy had a huge impact on a couple plays.
Tre mann is something
After getting destroyed on the boards the the first half, we outrebounded Houston 33-12, yes 33-12, in the second half. Crazy stat.
Also, Lamelo superstar ascension incoming
I feel like grant Williams had some nice moments guarding Sengun in the second half. He wouldn’t let Sengun back him down. I think grant is just the way he is. A solid mix of good plays and boneheaded plays.
The grant giveth and the grant taketh away.
I wish I could rewatch the second half of that game to see the adjustments defensively and on the glass. After that first half, it’s just mind blowing that we won the rebounding margin by +12 at the end of the game. If we can find a way to rebound better, it’s going to clean up our defense so incredibly much.
Houston is a young (especially bigs) incomplete team, the answer could be they coasted and couldn’t then find the “put away” gear
Grant Williams is also only 25. He could still improve a lot of those boneheaded decisions. At least they are coming mostly from a place of hustle and determination and not just laziness.
I didn’t watch the come back as closely in the second half as I watched the first. But I think we just needed to figure out how to handle their interior attack while also covering the open 3. A lot of that the first half. They seemed to settle in more in the second half. Also, Melo was attacking inside more, which I think is a great strength of his, as opposed for staying outside trying to find the magic pass on the perimeter. That keeps the defense from setting up and we were able to get more looks. Same thing with Mann late in the game. Did that beautifully.
