The Hornets are the NBA equivalent of the Greer Town of Charlotte’s glorious inner city projects.

Explanation: Earle Village, Piedmont Courts, Dalton Village et al had way better athletes.

When my mom and dad divorced, she threw newspapers in Greer Heights for the CO. This was around Y2K and the area was much worse back then. I was a young lad around 12 then, and when I went to spend time with her I had to go throw the route with her. 3am in Greer was scary. Gun point, attempted car jacking… an old guy blasted a hole in a pit bull that was going to attack us. Memories were unlocked that I didn’t realize were there now that you reference this….

Needless to say, I digress…

I believe the Hornets will brute force their way back into the national spotlight. I choose optimism with the new leadership and investment in both culture as well as support staff.

Wow, crazy story. I spent a lot of time in Greer Town despite being born and raised in Matthews.

What’s crazy is my dad lived in Huntersville near North Meck High (where I later went to High School). We moved to Huntersville after living off Harris Blvd while waiting for our house to be built. I went to Derita Elementary before the move to Hville… The difference in my experience traveling between the two places was insane. It felt like the movie The Departed where he was involved in shit he didn’t grow up around. Then my mom moved to Ukraine (not from there) around 2003 until I was out of high school.

Edit: I don’t think Derita existed much longer after I left
