The fact that Bouknight is still playing is telling. Seems they are good with Kai, as he isn’t playing tonight.

I think Bouk will be a solid player for another NBA team. When we play that team he will dominate us.
Soooo, had the game set to record. Watched the first minute with all the clock issues (and turnovers, smh). I saw Brandon wasn’t going to play so I already lost interest in going back to watch later.
I see the final score and I’m thinking, we lost (to be expected) but it appears it was another good effort/close game.
I look at the box score and I’m thinking wow, Bouk had a pretty good game. McGowens too. NSJ being aggressive. Nnjai beasting on the boards and 4 blocks to boot. Maybe this is worth watching.
I turn it on. 8:15 into the 1st quarter, we haven’t scored a point, 0-14 from the field, 0-5 from three,0-2 from the free throw line, 7 turnovers, down 18-0… WTF!!!
I know it obviously had to get a helluva lot better from here but I had enough. How embarrassing. I feel sorry for coach Garnett cause he seems like a good guy from what I’ve seen of him on interviews with Plowrights podcast and else where but damn! I know he’s close with Melo so that’s a saving grace for his current job but this summer league seems like suicide for his coaching career.
Sounds like if you skip the first quarter it’s a good game. May watch it later.

One thing that SL brings rearing back into sharp focus for me is how much I think Clifford’s coaching style (and SL is entirely an extension of Clifford if not him directly) is that he - since year 2 here originally - puts guys very poor situations to succeed. Seeing Kobi Simmons last night with spurts of competence at point makes me question why in the world were we forcing guys into lead guard roles where they don’t come to us by way of that skill (or it’s several years removed and at a high school level)?
I will continue to hope that his term here is very short, and for that matter, Mitch’s as well.

I knew Bouk wasn’t as bad as he’s looked the first few games of summer league. He’s got special talents that these other cats don’t have. He’s quicker, gets off his feet and jumps so fast and high. Give him training camp to get his shot falling again and he will be a valuable back up behind Rozier.
I think him and Brice might can share Oubre role if he doesn’t return just fine.
He’s always had talent, especially physical talent. But he had one good game in Summer League, and he’s a third year player. Second year players, who were on Two-Way contracts as rookies, looked consistently better than Bouknight did. What’s more, he’s still utterly hopeless on D. I can not justify giving him a minute ahead of Bryce or NSJ, nor a fit Cody.

Don’t forget he put up really good numbers in G-League too and in a few NBA games. It’s more than just one summer league game. Them rookies were all playing greedy and not passing ball the first 2 summer games trying to inflate their own box score. He looks much better with real NBA players running the offense correctly… Not sure if his Def. will translate until he gets real NBA minutes. Looks like he’s added some weight and muscle since rookie year. Wondering if Cody will bounces back after injury, he never looked as good last year after he returned. Bouk grabs rebounds and is a willing passer from what I’m seeing. Hoping we don’t give away or give up on Monk 2.0 in my opinion.
