I have been on this forum since 2007, and I know some of you have been here even longer. Without Bobcats Planet RIP I honestly do not think I ever would have developed the passion I have for following this frustrating, exhausting, but deeply loved franchise. I am sure many of you felt the same gut punch I did when Eastley posted that Hornets Planet is closing down. Shout out to Ziggy, QC and GW MVP for keeping it going.
What I have always valued most here is the people. The perspective, the knowledge, the history, and the fact that conversation here has never felt like shouting into the void. I do not post as much as I once did, but I still read the boards regularly, and it has been a welcome refuge from the toxicity that has taken over Twitter and X.
I will admit this selfishly, but I do not want to lose the sense of connection this community has given me over the years. I reached out to Eastley, and he very kindly said he would be happy for me to share this. I write Buzz Beat on Substack https://buzzbeat.substack.com/. Some of you may already know it, but it is a Hornets focused community with over 500 subscribers.
It is completely free to join, and there is an active chat with a lot of passionate and genuinely knowledgeable fans. It will never replace the soul of Hornets Planet, but I truly believe that bringing a few voices from here into that space would only make it better. More than anything, I would just love to keep talking Hornets with people who actually care and understand what that means.

Hi James! Thanks, I definitely need to check it out. Also, a reminder that @Keetch has set up a Discord server for us. No one is really using it much yet since we still have Hornets Planet, but I think we should gravitate there for our small community as well as joining places such as the Buzz Beat Substack. I follow and see what James puts out on X and I read whats on Reddit, but having places to discuss the Hornets other than the crazy worlds of X and Reddit is so much better!!

HP will be missed by all for the top notch Horn-cats conversation, camaraderie throughout all of the lows, and high quality online friendships. Not going to lie, it has been quite a rough ride as a Charlotte basketball fan over the years, but I couldn’t imagine a better group to weather the storm with. I think we were all collectively shouting into the void of basketball misery, but at least we were in it together. Definitely a bitter sweet feeling now that the Hornets are finally playing good basketball, but will be losing HP.
Whatever happens this year, I know many of us will find a way to keep the conversation and connections rolling. Who knows? Maybe this run will continue and something special will happen this season so that we can go out with a bang.

I’ll join the substack as well but I do love how small this community we have here is. I’m guessing the Discord would be smaller like this and the substack would be a little larger, which is fine. I’m glad to keep this alive any way we know how. We have all suffered together for so many years and I don’t want to lose that when we finally start to win.
