"Neva' Lost" LaMelo Ball Thread

Now I am guessing that Melo is hearing this sh!t everyday from everyone. Looks like the Ball family is not afraid to buck up to the new owners.

This ain’t so bad imo.

Take away the FRP and give them 2 seconds and you’ve got a deal.

To be honest, that particular FRP is kinda the worst FRP possible. We would likely have the 25th pick or something unless I am missing something. This would give the illusion of a Bulls win, but would not be much different than 2 seconds imo.
ā€œLeast favorable of PHX, WAS 1-8, ORL and MEM (via WAS swap for PHX; via ORL swap for PHX or WAS; via MEM swap for PHX, WAS or ORL; via PHX to CHA)ā€

Just trade for Lonzo and figure the rest out. Clippers obviously are not in the picture asset wise if a trade were a possibility, which I personally don’t think a team will offer us enough this Summer to get us to move Lamelo.

I think that until I see someone like Shams says Lamelo wants out of Charlotte, I am not buying any of this as more than them putting pressure on ownership here to win.

If they traded for lonzo, i’d be relieved. I could finally walk away

This is the answer. Can you imagine how much press (and money) a move like this would generate? There would finally be league wide excitement about the Hornets.

We need to think outside of the ā€œtrade Meloā€ social media box.

It’s a news story for one or two news cycles. I can’t imagine it’s worth anything financially once the season starts if that’s the extent of our free agency endeavors. If this organization is prioritizing that, it’s not prioritizing right.

I mean you shouldn’t have to give up too much and it makes your star happy. No brainer regardless of fit, and I think Lonzo does fit quite well on our roster.

I think you severely underestimate the selling potential of the Ball brothers together

I think it’s got little value if we can’t make a playoff series. And two heavy health risks helping us get there is a low likelihood as well. So yes, I see it as a poor bet. And I don’t see a reason we need to cater to Melo like he’s Giannis. If he is ever considered for an All NBA honor, then I’d be far more in the camp we need to keep him happy. But barring that, he’s likely - by this time next year - the 3rd to 4th most important player on the roster.

Very generous post

If he is ever healthy for an entire season he will make all NBA. It is not time to give up on Lamelo yet, and because of that you need to cater to him. And Lonzo is no Thanasis or charity case, he is a legit NBA talent that has many years ahead of him and would help our roster

Did someone steal your screen name? Lol surprised you would say that.

I don’t think anyone on this roster deserves to be ā€œcatered toā€. For what? We’ve achieved nothing of relevance with these guys.

First of all, Lonzo is a solid starter NBA player objectively. He could start in Charlotte easily, so not comparable to Giannis case.
Second, I agree with Bobcats that they would bring good marketability, just look at this video:

125k views in 1 day, is significant visibility, and that is important for NBA teams. Also, helps Hornets with the ā€œfamily traditionā€ team with Curry’s etc.

Lonzo is also on a good contract, that even injured is not that bad imo.

We don’t make bank from ad impressions though. We need to win basketball games. There’s far more important things to do with our free agency capital than worrying about making LaMelo happy or building out a popularity play. We need to win games period

I don’t think the Hornets are gonna move for him. And I think Lavar’s just trying to get his boys some more pub, or himself some more pub. Gelo’s not stepping on an NBA court again, he doesn’t offer enough for a team to waste a roster spot on him.

I do like Lonzo as a player, except obviously the injuries. The good thing, after the meniscus transplant, it seems Lonzo’s knee is good and strong as ever. He only missed the rest of the year because of a sprained wrist. I think adding him would raise the IQ, intensity, professionalism, and start to take Melo off the ball more and lead to more fluidity on offense.

But for a team cursed by injuries, why would you tempt the basketball gods with a delicious way to create more mayhem. Also, at $10M, which isn’t bad, we have to make some trades for room. Green is everyone’s favorite target to ship, I don’t know if the Bulls want him though. I also don’t want to give up on Okogie, he’s that OKC/Indy type defender we definitely need.

But the Hornets aren’t making this move for publicity sake, I think the front office is more serious than that, cause that will only effect ticket sales and jerseys for a few weeks at most if we don’t win. For basketball reasons, I like it, but there are a lot of potential cons with it too that may be too risky for this franchise.

I don’t think anyone wants Josh green.

Anyways, about Lonzo. What an incredible career pivot he was able to make. Much maligned during his time in LA and was viewed as a near bust with a lowered ceiling due to perceived deficiencies. Only for him to turn into a very good three point shooter and disruptive defender while in NO. And he kept his head down and just simply did the work to get better.

I’d love to have Lonzo on the team. I just can’t figure out how to do that or why Chicago would. Especially after all the time they waited to get him back and healthy.

I feel like I am living in the Twilight zone with how much actual discussion this is getting. Perhaps I’m wrong, but I really don’t think so

I feel similarly. I think QC had it where I am at. I have to hope we are serious enough of a franchise to not be doing things for clicks.
