"Neva' Lost" LaMelo Ball Thread

Did I catch it correctly the other night that if Lamelo got a triple double he’d be the youngest to ever do it?

Way it’s looking early he has a real chance.

Think he was close across the set last night Spectre.

This is another fun one to track. He’s certainly been very good at reading passing lanes. It’s kinda reminiscent for me (and you guys check me if I am romanticizing this) of how Dell Curry used to read passes and get a lot of steals w/out swiping and fouling a lot:

He’s second in points, first in rebounds, and first in assists among rookies. He has the base stats too

Remember, he didn’t even have a summer league or full training camp!

I am trying to level my expectations. I have been trying to since November 18th. But Lamelo is making it really hard for me to do so! The guy has got it all! My gracious guys have the basketball Gods finally given this franchise a SUPERSTAR? He has all the tools to become one!

This could help level.

Check out his first 8 games.

Some significant diffs imo

I only responded to the “trying to lower expectations” theme.

They are very different players and I’ve never seen anyone remotely compare the two in terms of play. They are also cast in significantly different roles and LaMelo is doing this off the bench which contributes to far less expectations and load.

Fair to say LaMelo will have major stinkers and bumps along the way, but his situation and the team he’s on’s situation strongly differs from MCW’s.

It was a joke.20 hilarious characters

Could also go Tyreke Evans too. He was a beast his rookie year - 20 points, 6 assists, 5 rebounds.

Its crazy to think how good MCW was at the beginning. Did he just happen to start his career on a hot streak where he was hitting everything? Was there something that happened that wrecked his confidence to the point he couldn’t hit layups any more?

That said, he’s never been a good shooter. I think he’s shooting like 8% from 3 this year, which if he keeps it up would shatter Lance Stephenson’s NBA record while he was a Hornet (of course).

He did something to his shoulder in that first or second year and then got traded to MIL and began a jetsetting tour around the league. Is it possible he was more undermined by becoming a human roulette wheel ball than any issues inherent to his game?

Took me a bit to find him but he’s behind Julius Randle (top right quartile). Might be wrong but think he’s the only Hornet in the top right fully (Martin is on the line, Hayward is right below the line)
