Chef, we get a top 5 pick in this draft and this team goes into a Finals window over the next 5-7 seasons. I do agree with AJ
I’ve been leaning towards wanting the Hornets to have one of the lower play-in spots because either they’ll have won two games and go into the playoffs with great momentum OR they lose and potentially get a lottery pick.
I’ll stick take a solid playoff appearance over lottery potential, but I don’t mind if they’re forged by fire along the way.
Only if we had a star like Luka doncic to trade to the big market like Los Angeles Lakers…I’d bet that would land us the number one pick as a thank you!
I told my son earlier in the season that I thought a good season would be seed 9 or 10, winning the first, losing the second game and getting lottery luck with a good pick. I now think this team is better than that, but is very close to being a contender that I’m ok with that. This off-season should be the beginning of a window to compete at a high level. Time to cash in the chips.
Speaking of getting Superstars, Steph Curry once again talking about playing in Charlotte. https://x.com/i/status/2035090994417328348
He’s welcome too, if he wants to play for less than $20 mil per year and take coby whites spot.
Field of Dreams quote: “if you build it, he will come.” Charlotte is looking like a young winning team on the rise with a potential for a high ceiling. Will be interesting to see if that attracts the players we never had a chance to get in the past
Speaking of using this draft to track down our future PF. Say that the hornets land a pick outside of that top 6 range. How about Yaxel Lendeborg from Michigan? 6’9 240, can guard multiple positions and do a lot of things. I think he’ll be a late lottery pick.
I think he would be a good fit. His age will cause him to fall, but I think he’s ready to come and contribute right away.
Two other thoughts to wrap up my entry above.
- with Coby white seemingly brought in to stick around, I can’t imagine the hornets drafting another SG type player. 1-3 is pretty stacked.
Melo/Coby/Sion/Kon/Miller with the vet Josh green on for one more year. Unless the hornet chose to cut ties with Mann.
- Bridges and Grant Williams are both entering the final years of their deals. I don’t think that the front office is expecting for Salaun to suddenly be the starting PF of the future.
So I just can’t imagine the hornets not drafting a PF in this draft.
I think if there’s an obvious pick, they still make it, but yes I would imagine all things being equal, they’re drafting a big.
They draft a 4 or 5 for sure. Moussa is great, but we still need someone that plays with some force down low to get to that next level.
PF/C would be absolutely great if the right players are there. I also wouldn’t be against a quality back up PG. Other than that I trust they find the right players BPA etc.
Always bpa.
