Right on. Wasn’t sure if was just an error on my end. Just wanted to give you a heads up in case it’s helpful.
What’s the general vibe at the moment?
Reluctant optimism?
Cursed Hope?
Where you at?
Miller is gonna have a great year
As long as he doesn’t have to play with Micic
Melo has a completely healthy season. Mark comes back and stays healthy.
Hornets have a decent run this year. Surprise 44 win team.
Optimism but with a lot of hesitation, will need to see what Mark looks like when he returns.
Miller looks like he’s going to take his game up a level, Mann seems poised to have a breakout year, Melo is already back playing at an all star level and Salaun is better out the gate than I expected.
Our bench depth worries me a bit if Micic is going to continue to play like he doesn’t give a damn and of course health is always a concern with this squad
Cautious optimism. Healthy, they’re at least a play-in team, possibly a regular playoff team. Injuries again, and we’re seeing where the ping pong balls put them. I going to be on the optimistic side and say 40-45 wins.
Ngl I kinda thought Harry Giles would find a way onto the roster
I rant hope we find a spot on the Swarm roster for Brown and Johnson. Giles on the other hand really looked quite uninteresting. I was really a big fan of Brown, but his size and apparent skill set. Unfortunately we don’t have a need for him currently.
Very much agree. Keyontae Johnson absolutely looked like a guy who could develop. I liked a lot of what I saw. I know he was a pretty good three point shooter in college as well. Nice size.
Charlie Brown jr looked good at times. He was kind of loose-y with the handles, but was acquired for peanuts. Eh, that’s all the puns I’ve got.
Giles was a warm body. A luke warm body at best.
I see what you did there
I also liked what I saw from Johnson. Hoped we’d keep him around in some capacity. I know he had a lot of injuries earlier in his career but I’ve never been impressed with Harry Giles at any level, be it HS, college or the pros.
To the broader question, put me in the cautiously optimistic camp. I think this team can absolutely be in the 40-45 win range if healthy. It’s exciting to think about what 70+ games from Lamelo and Miller could look like. But we need to see MW. His constant unavailability is problematic. It’s one thing if it’s a rotation guy like Cody, but a projected starter who never plays and that we’ve barely been able to evaluate halfway through his rookie deal is concerning to say the least.
Edit to say that being from Winston, I always pull hard for the W-S guys. CP3 and Josh Howard have definitely made us proud (in addition to being Deacs). Cody and Caleb are close enough that I’ll even claim them. So I hoped Giles could show enough to catch on here and possibly revive his career. Butt unfortunately he just doesn’t seem to have a go to skill and has never developed one. I hate that for him.
I think the deadline for the option on him is the end of the month. I assume it will be picked up, but if it’s not, that will be very telling about his health.
Yeah, I think we’ll definitely pick it up. No reason not to. It would just be nice to feel certain that he’s a reliable starting C for the foreseeable future and be able to project where his ceiling actually is. Right now it’s still somewhat speculative since he’s only played a little over a third of the games his first two seasons. He could be anything from Greg Oden, to solid starter to all-star. We just don’t know yet.
Don’t think there are any significant changes coming, but…
Nothing at all to worry about when the gambling company is the one who broadcasts the game
Forgot about Josh Howard. Hadn’t thought of that name in years. What a good freaking player.
