SCOOT vs MILLER: FIGHT!

Ive always been a fan young mane!

Like in my last post I don’t know whos better . Me I prefer Scoot but I think it is closer than we think. And wanted to give Miller some pop too .
Me what i like about Scoot better more than his game is he has that IT factor like MJ had when he first come out of college. I want to say the ability to make everone around him better.

Agreed. Not taking away anything from the g league ignite roster, but I think that scoot really elevated their game and it’s why we see so many of those ignite players scattered throughout mock drafts. Would love to trade back into the first round and draft scoots teammate, Leonard miller.

Melo is going to get so many more open, easier looks from three with scoot a threat with the ball.

This offense stagnated so much last year when teams extended the defense and make the three point shots more contested. We had zero threat of anyone driving towards the basket. Having this would’ve collapsed the defense and created open threes due to having to respect a guy who get attack the rim. Scoot can do this. Scoot can also attack from mid range if teams want to extend the defense and press the three point line. Would be easy for him to exploit the soft spot in the defense in the mid range.

As more news comes out, not to mention the question of his health, Miller’s stock drops further and further, while Scoot seems cemented as the overwhelming favourite. But, on the court, Miller defends, rebounds and passes the ball to a good level. To say if his shot isn’t falling, he’s not doing so much is doing him a disservice. The rest of your post, I’m in full agreement with.

Yea, the more you watch, the more you hear, the more you just want that dude on the Hornets.

Yep, I’d love to get Stephen Silas in here, as I think he’d be a great addition to the staff and could fill this role well.

Silas would be awesome for Scoot Henderson, no doubting that.

Listened during my morning walk. Good stuff.

Perhaps this has already been posted elsewhere, but some interesting Hornets nuggets here.

"While the Trail Blazers have signaled an openness to move that No. 3 pick — general manager Joe Cronin told Yahoo Sports in May his team is ā€œtrying to win and trying to maximize Damian [Lillard’s] timelineā€ — rival teams are skeptical Portland will find a suitable trade partner for that coveted selection before the Blazers come on the clock. There is no straightforward answer to what Charlotte will decide at No. 2 with many mock drafts pinning Alabama freshman Brandon Miller as the Hornets’ likely direction as a perceived better fit next to All-Star point guard LaMelo Ball instead of G League Ignite guard Scoot Henderson. Yahoo Sports’ Krysten Peek has Henderson projected to go No. 2. That level of uncertainty could present a challenge for any team hoping to jump to the third pick without a clear idea of which prospects will still be on the board until those five minutes start ticking away.

Charlotte plans to host twins Amen and Ausar Thompson of Overtime Elite on Friday, league sources told Yahoo Sports, before welcoming Henderson to its facility Sunday, followed by Miller next Tuesday. The Hornets typically land among the league’s annual leaders in terms of pre-draft workouts. And with Charlotte also holding the No. 27 pick, plus three picks in the top half of the second round, the Hornets’ gym has featured dozens of prospects over the past few weeks since the combine, with no goal to slow the number of players visiting town.

There’s plenty of additional context hanging in the background of Charlotte’s prime draft positioning, once the San Antonio Spurs select French sensation Victor Wembanyama with the No. 1 pick as expected. The looming possibility of the Hornets’ sale from majority owner Michael Jordan to minority partner Gabe Plotkin and Hawks investor Rick Schnall is an unusual circumstance clouding the critical franchise decision-making that comes with a top draft pick.

There has already been plenty of speculation among team staffers regarding potential replacements for general manager "The Dude" and head coach Steve Clifford, both of whom have one more guaranteed year on their contracts for the 2023-24 season, sources said, for whenever any possible new management structure takes shape in Charlotte. Choosing between Henderson and Miller, or perhaps one of the Thompson twins, and then overseeing a possible contract extension for Ball and a perhaps new deal for forward Miles Bridges — who sat out last season following ugly domestic violence charges — are massive responsibilities for any team’s long-term team-building strategy, especially if leading voices in the front office aren’t assured to be involved in the planning process beyond this offseason."

What an interesting situation man. Franchise could be on the brink of an entire overhaul at the top, but the current administration in place has some major decisions to make this offseason. LaMelo extension should be an easy call, but then they have to figure out who to draft with #2, the Bridges situation etc. Do it all correctly and this could be a fantastic opening for prospective HC’s and GM’s next summer.

ā€œThe dudeā€ gets a chuckle everytime.

Excellent site administration.

As an aside, I would call portland and ask what it would take for me to signal that scoot is the guy so they can start to really dig into solid trade offers.

That’s an interesting angle I hadn’t considered.

Go on. You’ve piqued my interest.

Would they have to send us multiple 2nd round picks from 2035?

"The Dude" is listening intently

Debate settled. Might as well move all conversation to #27

This one is actually worth discussing.

I know someone said it on here, but is a Thompson twin actually a better option than scoot?

If ALL things were equal, Amen’s size would give him the edge over Scoot.

But even though Scoot’s shot isn’t great right now, he basically just needs to work on consistency and repetition, he will most likely become a pretty good, reliable deep shooter.

Amen doesn’t have the correct form right now to even start any work on getting more consistent and reliable, and it’s a risk to assume that he can get there.

Scoot basically only needs refinement to be NBA level, Amen will require a multipart reconstruction process that causes my PTSD with MKG to kick in and, with the HL algorithm, will add a few LOLs, WTFs, and GTFOH’s to the whole endeavor which I don’t know if my soul can take.

This is exactly my take.

Amen is absolutely the elite of the elite as an athlete. He has great positional size. He’s a very good defender. There’s so much to like. BUT, and it’s a big one, he’s been a pro gearing up for the draft with the full knowledge that his shot is holding him back. He’s had time to work on it. It’s still holding him back.

Scoot can hit open 3s, he’s a perfectly respectable shooter for a rookie Guard. If you go under the screen, he’ll shoot it. Amen, who’s a year older too, has shown nothing that suggests he’ll become even an average shooter. You’ll always go under the screen and be able to mitigate his strengths.

Then there’s the mentality of Scoot. That’s perhaps his biggest USP. I just can’t see past him now. All the off field stuff for Miller, his short term health concerns and his off court decision-making (to put it sympathetically) has removed him from consideration at #2 for me.

IMHO, our #2 pick has become even more valuable. It’s now Wemby, then Scott, then 4-6 other guys.

How about supporting James. Plus this is speculation that actually works for us too!

In a world where we pick Miller, the propose trade makes a tonne of sense. In fact, this is one of those most rare of trades … one that works for both sides!

Yeah but would the Mavs take Gordo? To get them to take the trade, I would also throw in the 27th pick too. I think that is more realistic to get the Mavs to bite. Surely they would make the trade for Terry and I doubt that we would have to add the 27th pick to make it happen. If we select Scoot (instead of Miller) then I would pick Gradey Dick 10th.
