He’s not exactly a nobody, employed by ESPN he said this on the Lowe podcast. Butttt he said Jabari was a lock to ORL a year ago, and in this podcast he proceeded to say he’d put it at 60% Miller 40% Scoot. And it sounds like it’s more so speculation throughout the league than it is anything concrete he’s heard.
Idk about high school but in Australia it was like 26%
26% is what Melo shot in Australia?
I can normally find stats all around, but for the life of me I can’t find scoot’s high school 3p%.
From watching a ton of video on scoot, I can say that I’m less concerned about scoot being able to improve his 3 than I was Melo.
To all the people who have found the single detractor of Scoot’s game (shooting the 3), what do you think is wrong with his shot/form?
I’d like to separate the people who actually play and know ball from the people who just read tweets and box scores.
Yes when we drafted LaMelo the general thought was he’d be a bad shooter as he shot 26% in the NBL
I had more worries about Lamelo’s mechanics than I do scoot’s.
Scoot shoots 77% from the free throw line which to me is a good sign he’d can become a fine shooter
Yeah, and it was hard to determine from that much because he was real streaky there. Like he’d have a couple of games where he couldn’t miss and then a few in a row where he couldn’t hit one. That and the mechanics had me thinking he wasn’t a shooter. Still don’t trust that shot, but ball don’t lie.
Just love how these “experts” say teams have already made their decisions and the process has barely begun. SMH. They usually wind up looking like fools.
Well, I’ll say it. Scoot is already working on his jumper. I can see he’s started to shift the ball to the right, away from the middle of his face. Hes been able to get away with a lower release point because of how incredibly long his wingspan is, but this has also hurt his long range shooting. This is okay for the midrange. Which makes sense. But there’s a certain distance that needs more arch, spin, higher release point.
I thought Melo’s form was wayyy more rough and was my big knock on him. Scoot works his ass off, and he’s already starting to improve it. He knows.
Wrong wrong wrong.
At 19(!!!) dude is big, strong, physical, insanely quick, and just yamming like this. How do you look at that and say, eh I’ll pass.
I am still expecting melo’s % to come down ![]()
His mechanics are garbage. But sample size says it works. So rock on
Don’t know Givony’s work well, but you missed part of what he said:
Per ESPN’s Givony – Miller in bad shape, interviews not going well
“At the same time, he’s not in great shape right now. So I don’t know how great his workout is going to be.
“His interviews have not been great, I’ve been told. Both publicly and privately with NBA teams.
“I would put it 60 percent Brandon Miller at two, 40 percent Scoot Henderson. I do think they’re going to have trade conversations too. I would be shocked if they traded [the pick]. They would be out of their minds honestly. The best thing in the world that could have happened for them is getting the No. 2 pick.”
Yeah, it’s pretty shocking that Melo is a career 38% 3 point shooter. It’s not pretty, and it’s not how I’d teach kids to shoot. Not by a mile. I’m sure I could pull up my old posts about how i thought Melo’s form was trash and he had too much to work on to rebuild that stroke.
I still don’t like his form, but who cares? He’s a 38% three point shooter.
Still. Scoot has already started to shift the ball out of his face and just needs to raise his release point. Getting there:
It’s uncanny how much this is shaping up to be just like the Bryce Young vs. CJ Stroud debate the Panthers just went through.
One is an undersized but dynamic player, who’s been well known and always considered a #1 prospect. Interviews great, very professional, approaches the game in a workmanlike manner, seems a natural leader.
The other has great positional size, pinpoint accuracy, a very successful last season, but rumors starting up about their interview skills, thought processes.
I think the Panthers made the right choice, but we’ll see how it goes when the real games start.
I’m shocked people see this as a close call.
Had the exact same thought. Even with how the Panthers initial reports were that it would be Stroud but that was just people trying to connect the dots when it turns out Bryce was the guy the whole time.
At least we only have a month of having to deal with this shit since the draft is 6/22
Miller gives me Rudy gay or Lamar Odom vibes way more than Tatum or George.
Really talented and productive but just not a guy that will lead you to a championship.
