As a team that can take on salary, could (or should) the hornets trade Lowry to golden state for cp3 and at least one pick? It would save gs a ton of money

I totally agree we shouldn’t overpay in free agency if there is not a difference maker available. Who is the star/difference maker trade target that we can get here by next year? Those players are rarely ever available via trade. Teams aren’t typically willing to part with them.
I just hope there is a plan / path to get this team set up to be better next year.
I’m sorry but this was just stupid. If Siakam could net 3 1sts there’s no way we should be parting with Terry for a single late first and Lowery. I just don’t get it. At a minimum we should’ve insisted on a swap of the Martin brothers in this deal.

Siakim is worth so much more than terry. His position is so much more valuable. It’s not even close. This was a fair deal for terry.

He’s not 3x better than Terry.
Siakam is an expiring and unrestricted free agent. While unlikely, he could leave Pacers high and dry this summer. Terry is guaranteed for 2.5 seasons.
The value, IMO is closer than what we got thats for damn sure.

Terrys time in Charlotte has bad fans both upset we traded for him and that we traded him away.
When we traded for him he was called a massive overpay typical of the Hornets management
Now when we traded him away it’s being said we undersold him typical of Hornets management
Lol funny. I was thrilled when we got him and sad to see him go, especially for so little on what I consider a good contract. We will see what happens

Happy for Terry, he deserves to end the peak part of his career on a functioning franchise with playoff series wins as a possibility.
No matter how many times I look at the trade, and from whatever angle, the Heat got very good value.
I agree with @Chef’s take that we should use the expiring money to build out the roster around LaMelo and Miller. I almost have Williams in the same core tier as NSJ after this season!
Can we get anything for Lowery’s contract without damaging our cap, and preventing us from building out a functional roster that can, and is actually willing to, defend?
