Stephen A. “My condolences to Kyle Lowry for going to whatever exists in Charlotte”
Oof, that hurts, man. I hope the FO and owners hear how we are regarded.
Losing begets losing, on and off the court. We’re not in a position to be winning trades right now.
But looking at the big picture, if we can pull in a couple more picks for some of the vets it makes us a much more attractive prospect for the GM/head coaches we’re hopefully targeting.
Basically the maximum cap space, a solid young core of lamelo, Mark and Miller, an early pick in the upcoming draft and an accumulation of some future picks makes us a much more attractive proposition.
The one thing we absolutely have to avoid is shooting ourselves in the foot between then and now with any overpays/taking back bad contracts.
Do you guys really think we can get a better player than Rozier for the money that frees up? I doubt it.
More run for NSJr
In my opinion our hope totally relys on having something good happen in the draft this season.
Outside of that, we are doomed to be even worse next year than we have been this season.
The good thing is that now we will run plays for Miller, because we have no excuse not to.
Oh wait thats right we will run the whole offense through Cody Martin I forgot
I’m happy for Terry. He’s played his guts out for us and all he has to show for it are two play-in game blowout losses. Even if we stay healthy the rest of the season and started winning half our games, it’s too late. In May/June we can offer a new GM and coach a great young core, another high draft pick and tons of cap space.
We should all be Miami fans. We’re basically their g-league / farm team. Gave them our greatest center, Zo the only Hall of Famer that could remotely have been associated with us but yet he belongs to them. Gave them Caleb (and Cody zelller) who helped get them to the finals from an 8 seed. Now Terry. Heat culture feeds from Charlotte.
We also saved them $15.4 million in Lux Tax this year alone and gave them a 6.4 mil trade exception.
I mean we exist to assist the Heat.
I am happy for Terry and will be supporting him at Heat. Terry deserves our support and success. He played his guts out and showed up every night. I can’t say the same for Gordon. Hopefully, these are good omens, and things will look up under the new mgmt.
I love it! If ya can’t beat 'em join 'em! Not to mention the Rex Chapman-instead-of-Rony Seikaly situation from day one!
I just can’t see how the next 2-3 weeks aren’t going to go any other way than us getting pennies on the dollar for basically all of our talent outside of Lamelo, Miller, Williams.
And according to reports we may be lucky to get pennies.
This can’t be sending a good message to Lamelo and his camp. Hope I am wrong.
Don’t let Stockholm syndrome allow you to cheer for the heat. Our captors aren’t suddenly lovable whenever they take our best players from us, and we have to thank them for it.
Can never cheer for the “Heat culture,” just like I’ll never cheer for dook or the cowboys. I’ll cheer for Lebron or Boston over the Heat, and I hope neither of them win another championship again.
We are basically cheering for Nelson Munz, assuming he must have a very sad South Beach home life
I’ll say now, if despite our bluster, we just buy out Lowry and did this for a protected 27 pick, I do hope they trade the front office next. Please tell me we aren’t that stupid
unfortunately, I think Kawhi Leonard re-signing with the Clippers will mark the beginning of the big fish re-signing with their current teams. The free agents to be are relatively veteran top heavy, all of which are likely to re-sign with their current teams. This upcoming free agent class is not looking very good.
This is why I’m a believer that we need to trade for a star rather than overpay for a vet to come to Charlotte. I’d rather accumulate some picks that we can shell out for a star (that we can trap in charlotte via trade).
It’s been real Terry. Love ya man. Fuck the Heat, but I do hope you deliver some classic scary Terry 4th quarter gems while in Miami.
I am all for keeping the powder dry. Sign some positional needs to very tradeable contracts and set up the roster for more balance. I also have always been someone who says if there aren’t any free agents worth hiring, don’t
Sorry man, I wish that I had better news for you.
The front office regime IS that stupid, and it has made our lives as fans of this franchise a living nightmare.
Yeah, this is my concern and why I asked the question what were we looking to accomplish in a trade and how would that play out if we go the future picks route. Not saying I’m opposed to it but I’m concerned. Terry was our most valuable asset we’re willing to trade and If the best we can get for him is a 2027 1st then I don’t see how we can accumulate much better assets with what we have left to part with. Without taking on major salary that will hamstring our flexibility. I mean I guess this is what the market dictated but it feels low.
But yeah, hopefully with the cap flexibility and what assets we can cobble together it will lead to creating a more balanced roster that many have been calling for that will produce wins. For Melos sake I don’t think we can go into next season hopeless.
Nearly impossible to get big free agents here in Charlotte. I think trade is going to have to be our go to, which Mitch was never capable or willing to do.
Look at what Indy has done. They acquired Haliburton via trade and they recently acquired Siakam via trade. IMO 3 first round draft picks is NOT an overpay for a player of Siakam’s versatility, skill, and availability. Guy doesn’t really miss games either. I mean, Indy’s picks aren’t going to be very high anyways. TLDR: people overvalue draft picks and believe in this case, Indy overpaid. Which they most certainly did not.
