I mean… a defensive anchor with a sweet 3 stroke? Yes, yes, y’all.
I am not sure if new guy was consistently carrying on the tradition of Big Pat to “both names” 2 pointers and “one name” 3 pointers but if so, it would be so nice to hear “Ryan for 3, 3, 3”
Love it here in this thread already!
Will go ahead and post the same video here. Worth the watch if you haven’t seen it yet. This guy is such a presence!
Where do you guys think Kalkbrenner would get picked in a below average draft?
I watch his highlights, and, yes, I know they are just highlights, but to me he looks like a lottery pick 20 years ago(technically the Andrew Bogut draft), when interior big men were more highly valued. Regardless of his age.
The big question mark is his perimeter D, but hey, I’ve been on record that I would love to be entertained by offense, so some 125 to 124 scores will be just fine with me. Especially if it comes with mid-range and low post significantly on the mix. And for some reason I find a big man hitting threes more entertaining than a guard doing it. Enter Kalkbrenner.
Kalkbrenner is not much a perimeter or switch defender. He’s more of a king of drop coverage. Like, really really good. Elite.
I want this to work out so badly. I want Kalk to be our stablizing force in the middle. He definitely is not going to have effort, physicality, or motor issues like Mark Williams did.
And if Ryan can shoot threes even at a 30-35% clip. Holy shit that would open up so much.
I love how we have these rookies locked in for super cheap.
Best draft we’ve ever had! He should be a solid 10-15 year pro! A solid back up if nothing more is his floor!
