Currently not clear if we have our own 2025 2nd round or not. If not, it appears we have both the NOP and PHI 2nd round picks. If we do, it would be ours and NOP’s. If the latter, those are basically 32 and 34 if things stand - that might be something we can consolidate into a high 20s pick. Discuss here who guys you see fit in that bucket.
I would like to have a center that can shoot the 3. Wolf from Michigan and Kalkbrenner from Creighton might be available early 2nd.
I know that Reynauld is getting more love but I like Efton Reid as a late 2nd. I don’t think we need to spend that capital on a guard/ forward at this point. But a 7 footer that can shoot from 3, hit free throws, pass, and defend out in space (at least college kids) should interest us.
Hunter Sallis with a move just now vs FSU that probably alone moved him up 15 spots on draft boards. OMFG!
If we could get walter clayton i wouldnt hate it were probably gonna draft some guy that will be out of the keague in 1 month tho
Right now we are projected to get the 33rd pick and take johni broome!
We also have 34. I wonder if they try to move up into the low 20s with those 2 picks?
Definitely need to trade up!
After the combine tahaad pettiford from auburn showed out and we r projected to take him 34th
I saw a video that said that Derik Queen had a disaster of a day yesterday. Disastrous as in unathletic, slow and one of the lowest combined scores ever.
I am saying this because all of those mock drafts w him in the top 10 are super wrong now. He’s looking top 20 now or lower.
What about Ty Proctor out of Duke? He’s bigger than KJ and has big time experience.
I’m sure it will effect Queen but it was already pretty much assumed he would do bad at the combine.I don’t think he’s ever been that type of player (not uber athletic and not a great shooter). I would like one of the decent C type players to fall to us IF we keep both 2nd round picks.
We will see how the individual team workouts go w Queen. Right now he’s my nomination to take the biggest tumble in the first round.
Guys I think we may need to keep both second round picks to see if we can draft quality backup 1s and/or 5s.
I really would like for the team to sign a serious vet or 2, like what Houston and Detroit did for their young rosters when they got serious.
In that case, I don’t know if they have room for 3 rookies on the roster next year. I know there’s the G-league, or the eurostash option (has that ever worked for us?), but we’d probably have to flush another young development guy for the new one maybe earlier than we want.
I’d love to be able to pack those two picks to get back into the first round. Or package one 2nd and the Dallas 1st to get higher in the first, though I’d be more hesitant because any first rounder is a great asset for a big trade, even if it’s low first. But then again, we’ve never made a big time trade like that for a star player, so use it or lose it maybe…
I humbly withdraw my move up for Johni endorsement.
I just don’t know about another under sized PG. I will say this - Pettiford is probably an upgrade over KJ but we already have Mann. Unless your suggesting is the Mann is no longer reliable. If that is the case then we have much bigger back up PG issues.
We don’t and that is partly because we should turn our attention to building a winning culture vice stocking up for the future. Yes consolidate the second round picks, trade into the 1st round and try to get an immediate impact (a guy who can give us 5-7 minutes a night) player - preferably at a position of need.
With the 1st pick set (VJ, Ace, or Tre) we should be engaging in much more FUN and wild @ss speculation on a potential second draft pick.
If we keep the 2 seconds I like Cedric Coward, a lot. The scouting report I watched has him going at 8-15. Tankathon has him at 31 on their board, so who knows. I also like Ryan Kalkbrenner. We need a 5 that can potentially shoot the 3.
