140m over 4 years for Jordan Poole?!?

Admittedly I haven’t watched very much NBA basketball the last 2 years. Is that a bit high?

I would say it is a bit high. I would say Terry and Poole are similar players (stats-wise), and Terry’s contract is 4/~100M. The main difference is Poole is 23 and Terry is 28, so if you think Poole will have a big jump, then you might justify the %40 difference, but I don’t see it. For example, Jalen Brunson also signed 4/~100M, so 140M might be a little high, especially for a backup guard.

In three years with the salary elevator incoming, 35m/yr will be like 20m per currently.

The reasoning gives me ptsd

Thought the Wiggins contract was good

In JP, the first year is less than Draymond’s current contract this year as I read. Also think up to 8-10% can be in unlikely incentives so it’s also not 100% guaranteed unless that was stated.

It’s effectively the contract Kemba got 3 years ago and JP is coming off a major contribution to a championship. Plus 139m in 2019 is very much not what 140m is in NBA salaries next year and especially by the time this extension plays out.

Wonder if Kemba looks south and just says nah, I’m good
