I am thinking that Nick will have to go regardless of what Mitch told ESPN last week. You won’t have enough development minutes behind Plumlee for Kai, Vernon and Nick. My GUESS is that Nick is the odd man out. Unfortunately, most teams would want Vern for trade bait instead of Nick.
Missing a 3rd PG. What happens is (God forbid) Melo gets injured again. Terry starting at the 2 AND backing up Ish doesn’t work especially if Bouk (not Kelly) is our back-up 2. We’ll I guess the team could hurt Bouk’s feelings and tell him that he’s the 3rd 2. P!ss poor planning would be on display if our only two dedicated PG are injured at the same time.
I think we should make space on the active roster for Kulboka by trading the last Martin and we could give the two way contract to Gelo. Trade bait/salary dump candidates: Scottie, Cody, Wes, and Nick. Although I ave not done enough to research on Wes. Hopefully Nate and Grant are really gone from the team.
I’m more concerned with getting a pg for G league. Gotta have someone there to run the offense. Hard to develop young talent when the games look like youth league.
I read that Monta Ellis was staging a comeback. He’d fit that mold you want in GSO. Question would be, does the G League do it for him? Obviously not if there are any varsity offers. But if not, big IF, he’s said money isn’t a blocker, maybe it’s worth a call.
As for a 3rd PG on the team and a PG to run the practice squad in Greensboro maybe the front office is waiting for other teams to trim their rosters. Now that could be a way to pick up some cheap borderline talent.
I think we will match Bridges contract after the league gives him a market value . Sign him now he would command 90 million too. I think we get him in a match at 4 for 80. He could get hurt, and i doubt his max contract is more than Terry money.
I think Dav was right: see what season and off season brings. I want to see him long term here, but I’m guessing that his people aren’t that far away right now from what he’d likely get in the off season.
And we can always match.
I am curious if somehow the city of Montreal gets involved.
I’m in the minority opinion on this one I think, but I don’t want to tie up 80-90 (or more) on Miles Bridges. He can jump through the gym and make some very impressive athletic feats happen, but so do a lot of guys in the NBA. I just wonder if that money can be used elsewhere. I’m so cautious about this team making repeat mistakes in the past and tying up salary cap to guys who aren’t getting us to the next level.
Miles has a good vibe with LaMelo, is crazy entertaining, and developed into one of the few guys we have who can shoot. If I’m GM I’m doing all I can to keep him around.
