At first I was thinking this list was based strictly off of this season, in which case I was thinking that may be the justification for excluding Lamelo given his slow start. But then I saw Morant’s face. For him to not make this list is pretty absurd. He definitely deserves to be on there more than Gordon, Mobley, Porter Jr., Wagner, Vassell, Barnes and Holmgren at least. This is beyond disrespectful.
I’ve spoken enough about the non basketball side of miles bridges, but regarding the basketball side of his return…I also feel ambivalent about that as well.
On one hand, this roster is so decimated right now the team needs his return to add depth all over. But most importantly, miles will help them run a smaller lineup that will feature PJ at the 5 to help counter small ball lineups that have crushed the hornets so far. Absolutely crushed us.
On the other hand, the hornets are at league bottom when it comes to three point shooting and Miles won’t really help here much. He’s generally a 33% three point shooter. And he’s never been a good defender either, which is where this team has struggled as well (aside from a flashy block or leap).
I think "It's Miller Time!"’s ability to hit threes is the vital piece here. A lineup of Melo/Miller/Hayward/Bridges/PJ is a fine small ball lineup. The team desperately needs Miller to be able to hang at the SG spot and hit threes closer to that 40% clip.
…that unit HAS to hit threes to be effective or relevant. Or else it’s just a poorer rebounding iteration of our starting unit with Mark Williams.
Okay, miller expected to play tonight. At least something I read. Pretty surprised. I wouldn’t mind having him sit a game and rest the ankle. Sorry to even put this into writing, but I wouldn’t want to worsen the ankle sprain or something else happening due to the body over compensating the weak ankle.
I’m wondering if we could get Gordon Hayward’s wife to give her medical opinion and if they’re rushing Brandon back.
Nope… since he was expected to play, he’ll miss a month bc…. That’s what we do.
I’m more worried about Miles taking away opportunities from Miller
How so? Miles will be playing PF, and a few minutes at SF.
Guys like Thor, Mcgowens, Ish, Theo will see less minutes I’d assume-as Miller slides into that SF/SG slot. Ish and Theo have been splitting minutes at SG beside Melo.
But with Hayward destined to always miss games-this may be an irrelevant conversation haha
Theo didn’t do shit tonight. That’s why NSJ was in late
After tonight Theo is shooting 5/29 from three for a whopping 17% on the season.
More NSJ please.
Cliff gave a great press conference. Real talk
I missed it. Give me the “Cliff notes”?
Last minute of that Cliff commentary was particularly interesting.
Cliff was mad. But at what point in his long coaching career do we get to say it’s on him? It’s him, he’s an assistant not a head coach. Or a head coach who’s assistant runs the strategy.
His offense does not put people in positions to succeed.
To his credit, this is a bottom 5 team talent wise. This is a team with one player who would be a 30+ mpg player on all 30 teams.
I also fully expect him to kill mark Williams career from here on out.
His deflection of any conversation about Miles though was interesting. Seems clear that’s the organization strategy. Why won’t we speak to this? It’s clear that the decision was to bring him back and he’s going to play, so why won’t we just address the elephant in the room?
Because the elephant is covered in stinky poo and it’s easier to just not
Just goes back to that Cliff really knows the game, knows how to interpret what he sees. But he needs to be the one that compiles information, who creates an analytical report, and then gives it to a head guy to make the ultimate decisions.
The players acknowledged it - both PJ and Melo talked about him Postgame. Cliff mentioned him before, but you’re right it’s obvious he has been told not to talk about him until you have to.
Oh, ok. I’d missed that so thanks for that context. I hadn’t heard anyone speak about it, but my recording cut off before the post-game coverage so all I saw were Cliff’s comments in the clip you posted above.
100% this! Such a shame that we’ll lose his BBIQ from the organisation when he’s inevitably replaced as HC. He’s the ideal No.2, just not cut out for the No.1 job, where in-the-moment decision making and adjustments are so key.
Sorry if I’m bothering anyone, but is anyone selling two tickets for Saturdays game?
Message me if so
