Thatās the sort of thing I expect of Miller. Great that Mark went too. Thereās an obvious omission from our potential core, and it would be really great to see LaMelo with them.
Wonderful news to wake up to! Classy guys classy. Hereās to hoping that the new coach wins it all this year (and next)!
No need to knock Melo! Let him recover and live his life in the off season. Plus the man needs his now time to enjoy what he has earned. I hope that heās in Italy or France somewhere decompressing.
āMelo said he aināt going to be the only one around here limpingā
It was funny and it hurt too!
āShelly Cayette-Weston as the new President of Business Operationsā
I tried to cite this post from another poster but couldnāt figure it out.
You know me - I love the business of sports! There you have it folks - my Hornets dream job (out side of an ownership stake).
@Jfoster posting on Bonzi
F that guy. I always wondered how he could stay in the league. Now I have a renewed interest in not liking him.
Rod Boone says we need to trade our pick and cites the terrible draft class. I just donāt get it. What do you think we can get for the 6th pick in a terrible draft class?
Not a whole lot. Maybe a solid Shooting Guard
Probably on a bad contract for someone looking to shed some money. But who?
Jason Richardson
Donāt get Rodās take here. This draft class is universally slated as being weak, so the trade value of our pick will be commensurately weak, too.
The only argument for his view would be a ābetter the devil you knowā approach. Iād rather invest the pick and developmental resources in a young player the organisation believes in.
Iād love to see some examples of who that could be. Same as everyone else itās no secret this pick has a lesser value.
Keeping it just makes more sense.
Really not sure⦠but we need one, haha
Why canāt we just shoe horn Cody Williams into the two guard spot? I donāt care if we are drafting him 4 slots higher than where he would have gone last year - he fills a need.
I donāt disagree
I just want a Beal type and we instantly become contenders.
Easier said than done
A few thoughts. After watching the playoffs Iāve been reflecting on a few things. Iāll pontificate my meaningless, wandering trains of thought.
Look at these four teams in their respective conference finals. All four teams completed important trades to bolster their teams. Prior to this season and deadline.
Minnesota: the much maligned Gobert trade.
Dallas: Gafford and PJ at the deadline
Boston: Porzingis and Jrue Holiday prior to season
Indy: Haliburton via trade last year and Siakam at the deadline
Of course, those teams had some serious stars going for them and some homegrown talent, but wow what excellent work by the front office for each team.
Last note,
Letās talk about Dallas. Prior to trade deadline they ranked 19th in defense. Post deadline up to now easily top 10. Dallas buzzes on defense, great switching, communication. Seamless.
Lastly, but mostly importantly: a little case study in Dallas and Minnesota. What a departure from āsmall ball is the futureā. Dallas with the physical, rim running tag team of Gafford and Lively.
And Minnesota with KAT, Gobert, and Naz Reid. Minnesota putting up the best defense in the league and being the kryptonite to the league favorite, Denver Nuggets.
Dallas and Minnesota strategies give you a lot to think about. *So if Clingan is there at pick 6, do you draft him to pair with Mark Williams?
āSKILL ball is the futureā⦠gotta have size AND skill anymore!
Yeah! Just like jt Thor and Kai jones!
Canāt remember who I heard talking about size in the league and how Golden State was the exception. That you still need size to compete at the top of the NBA. We need to get bigger at the 2 and 4. Would also really like a stretch 4 or 5. Poku might be able to fill that need at 4.
Whatās bothering me is that no one is talking about how fucking ugly Lameloās shoes are.
I know this is a hornets forum and we tend to support our dudes, but most of us on HP are not young and/or cool. No offense guys, I mean that in a self effacing kind of way-Iām neither young nor cool.
I just canāt sit here without commenting on how fugly Meloās kicks are. No wonder he tweaks his ankle constantly. They donāt look like theyāre worth a shit on the court outside of simply being fugly.
And Iām only 50% kidding on that last comment.
Real question-does anyone else around the league wear the Lamelo ball shoes??
Chef biting his tongue. Trying to stay positive.
The chocolate ones?
