Mostly 6s and 7s for me on about 10 spins. But, the thing is, as I start looking at the top 10 players, I’m really leaning toward Cam Whitmore, unless we end up at #1. He’s athletic, good quickness, strong, seems to finish through contact, good shot, plays good defense, can guard 3 &4 well, 1 & 2 sufficient on switches. The big thing to me is, he seems to have that dog, alpha, win at all cost, whatever you want to call it. Hornets need that. I may change my opinion by draft night, but right now it’s Whitmore for me.

He certainly doesn’t look or play like he is a freshman.
I think I would too, but I’ll only believe they’ll trade Terry once they have actually done so.
For once, I’m not too stressed about the draft lottery. Pick one gets us a potential franchise changer, but aside from that, I’d be pretty happy with any of Scoot, Miller, Hendricks, Whitmore & Walker.
I didn’t really see Whitmore play live, but in that highlight reel, he actually kinda reminded me a lot of Miles.
Similar height and strength at that age, Miles probably more vertically explosive, even though Cam is super athletic. But Cam actually seems quicker, and has a better handle at this point of their career than Miles did.
Another comparison could be Jerry Stackhouse, but maybe that name is too old for these kids today.
I do still feel the top 3 seem like they’re a step above, like there’s a guaranteed floor, with the ability to reach star status.
But for players like the Thompson twins, Cam, Jarace, and Hendricks, they could become stars because of their elite athleticism + size combo, but limited by certain weaknesses or inexperience.
Here’s the Stackhouse reel for reference:
Pretty sure there’s a bug in the Tankathon algo. I did a set of spins over lunch to stop where I hit the first one 10 matches. This doesn’t look like a predicted distribution.
7 - 1s
7 - 2s
4 - 3s
2 - 4s
7 - 5s
10 - 6s
8 - 7s
0 - 8s
Obviously, we cannot emulate the entropy of falling ping pong balls in a container but I don’t think the lottery does either. Feels like there might be a mathy problem there.
I think he is a better, two-way version of Miles.
I really like the guy. He has rare power, can defend, shoot and drive. He can create his own shot pretty well too, however, it’s his passing that I have yet to see evidence of being good. Not only that, but he’s also very young, think still 18?, so may well have another level or two to reach. Fit wise, he’s perfect (closely followed by Hendricks). Value wise … let’s see where we pick.
I saw Jerry Stackhouse play St John’s High School in Frederick Md when he was at Oak Hill in 1993. That Oak Hill team was absolutely stacked.
St John’s brought in Stu Vetter to create a basketball name for the small school
St. John’s first season under Vetter, in 1992-93, netted a 23-2 record and a No. 8 national ranking. The first team included: Cameron Dollar, who went on to win an NCAA title at UCLA; Tim Bashem (East Carolina); Ya-Ya Dia (Georgetown); Kevin Ward (George Mason); and a pair of juniors who would later transfer out: Tarik Turner (St. John’s) and Curtis Staples (Virginia).
It was an awesome stretch in my hometown. We got to get trounced by St John’s in summer league games. To all of you young guys, this was pre-AAU. You played summer league.
Damn, you must’ve grown up in a really nice pocket of basketball, you got all these stories of players you’ve seen or played with.
Time to write all these stories down grandpa.
And so it begins.
I’d take Emoni with our second pick tbh
Draft the best talent and figure it out…
Oh dear.
Hopeless
“In the draft, you have the first pick, the second pick, the third pick, and so on. We have the second pick, which is often better than the third pick. With that pick, we can pick a player we like, trade the pick, or pick a player and trade that player. We like what we have, but we might like something else better as well.” - likely a Mitch answer at some point between now and the draft.
Ha! I was thinking that was an actual quote while reading. So accurate.
Tell me the difference:
“Clearly, at the top of the draft at this time, there are two bigs, and we have the second pick. Most draft experts have Kentucky’s Karl-Anthony Towns and Duke’s Jahlil Okafor atop their boards. The Minnesota Timberwolves will make the first pick which would leave the Lakers left with whomever is remaining.
He had me until the last line
