Just me, but I’d burn a tear in the office carpet getting to the phone to waive Micic for that spot clearance
A moment of vulnerability here with you strangers that I feel a connection to.
While watching the game on TV live, when Grant went down and immediately waived trainers over to come get him. In that moment, it made me really fucking sad. I almost teared up. I knew the deal. Grant is an animated guy, you know what he’s thinking and feeling-it’s never a mystery, which I love and respect on a personal level. The clip of his knee and his immediate panic to waive trainers over made me fucking sad. Really sad. I knew what just happened.
Yep I was like 99% it was the ACL, I just didn’t want to put that energy or thought into the HP atmosphere. In the game chat the only thing I could say is “well fuck” as soon as I saw it.
I’ve been posting here for several years, but I was very much similar to Grant Williams when I played competitive basketball when I was younger. On many levels. I get on people’s nerves on the court, I know who I am. Grant knows who he is. For me, it wasn’t to be a dick, but I was always forced to guard guys bigger than I was. And I could shoot too, but I’d rather pass the ball.
This sucks. And I’m pretty sad about it. All I have to say is that I hope Tidjane Salaun is ready for more minutes. He’s absolutely not who I wanted the hornets to draft. I wanted Knecht and I don’t need to recapitulate my thoughts about Dalton Knecht. But this is the perfect opportunity for Salaun.
Any ideas on who we might be able to get to replace Grant? If the roster was healthy, I’d imagine they wouldn’t do much. This might hasten converting Diabate to a regular contract as well.
If you convert him, you are going to need another roster spot out of the 15.
If we cut Meech, that fees up the DPE spot. I don’t want to cut Seth, Taj, or NSJ to convert Le Mousse today. But if we can get Nick and Mark right, then is be ok cutting Taj to make Diabate a full contract.
Odd to think two viable free agents available for the spot are Biz and Frank
I wonder if Christian Wood is health? Lakers were once rumored to want to open up a roster spot.
idk too much abt nick richards as I am a new fan but would we rather have taj or nick?
We can always cut DaQuan Jeffries. Both he and micic are owed 7ish million.
We have some time (maybe til the deadline?) to give Moussa a full contract so we can probably dump micic in order to do that.
Really hate this for Grant, and for us. Definitely feel for him. And the timing is terrible. Just when it looks like we’re close to having Mark and Nick back he goes down. He’s the perfect second unit role guy given his ability to be that gritty defender but also make open shots. His loss will be significant, especially if we end up in the post-season, but at least this shouldn’t affect him too much going forward given his style of play.
On a different note, I agree with this. Lamelo has proven he can make those shots with regularity so I’m good with him taking them. I’d prefer that they not come super early in the possession, but it only helps to open up the floor for other guys if he can stretch the defense out that far.
Oh my!
Oh my goodness gracious
Hopefully we stay within 3-5 games of .500 until Mark and Nick are back
I’m waiting for, “Mark Williams has re-injured his back/foot by simply stepping onto the practice court. It would appear his body is rejecting the notion of playing basketball. Will re-evaluate in one month, maybe. Or maybe not.”
If we assume that we would want to replace like for like, IF we use the DPE to try backfill Grant’s absence, I wonder if RoCo is someone that is
A) available at scale.
B) is a this-year only guy so no fear of what to do with him in July.
C) fits the same mold of larger/wider wing that can be put on a Giannis/Tatum type equally.
D) good team defender.
E) shoots well from 3 and can facilitate a bit.
F) can size up to a very small-ball center.
Can’t get them all but what about bobby portis. I am sure mil will listen to anything that gets them back some 2nd rounders.
Unless he’s injured, I would prefer RoCo I think as he’s more of a Grant type than anyone else I can think of that meets A-F.
You would prefer the current version of Robert Covington to someone like Bobby Portis? I do think Covington is obviously cheaper to get since he is FA but I would definitely “prefer” Portis, although I bet he would be more expensive than some 2nds.
More like an “all things considered” in my A-F. Not that he’s the ultimate signing.
My concern would be that he is much more Josh Green than he is Grant Williams. Grant Williams was the heart and soul of the tough gritty. There really isn’t someone like that on the roster right now. I mean Taj is close but he’s 65 years old
