2024-25 Hornets General Discussion

Where do you see this?

I would think PHX wants it to go through since it helps them financially.

I don’t buy this BS and Ramona is a Lakers talking head that reads off a script.

EVERY news outlet said this was a high risk trade for Lakers due to injury history. Then Pelinka said that they looked extensively into medical records and weren’t concerned.

This is the Lakers having 3 days to evaluate and getting cold feet. OR someone’s agent called and said for that package I could get you “x player” in offseason and they were like oh that would be better.

Well then if that’s true, you’re saying that the lakers don’t have actual grounds for terminating the deal. So that means the hornets FO needs to go at the lakers with litigation through the league.

If the lakers don’t have medical basis for terminating, the onus is how on the hornets to prove the lakers concerns are insubstantial.

To be able to terminate, there has to be some real substantial stuff to refer to. Not just “eh”.

So the onus is now on the hornets FO to respond in part.

Edit: also, it doesn’t matter about the “talking heads” and all that other stuff now. This significantly damages the perception of our organization, our front office, and has taken away significant assets for us (picks and Knecht). Also, it has stuck us with a player who is now UNTRADEABLE.

The hornets FO should be taking swift action to fight this and save face. The ramifications are huge.

The following response by the hornets front office will tell me a lot about what actually happened. If the lakers did something inappropriate, the hornets must respond in part. You can’t be copacetic in this if something hinky happened on the lakers side.

If the hornets don’t respond or act on some fashion, that tells a lot as well…

Our front office won’t go after the Lakers publicly. There’s no way anyone in the NBA will side with us versus them. I wish they would though!

I just hope Jeff and friends visit them on our trip out there and drop a few f-bombs in a suite to show we aren’t a bunch of punks.

This is one of those rare occurrences where I think a new young GM just had his moment that welcomed him to the NBA. Sometimes you gotta show people they can’t f*** with you and get away without any consequences.

Like we just took our franchise center and shredded his value to pieces while at the same time severely damaging the chances of somehow working out an extension with him. I am pretty damn pissed off about it.

Yeah I agree. Our response to this matters quite a bit. Definitely a big eye opener for Jeff’s camp. They definitely need to respond in some fashion or another. How they do it will be the strategic part

I wonder how trades actually work. I wonder if it is like a real estate transaction where the seller has to provide property disclosure of all known issues. Like once it proceeds to after preliminary talks, both teams submit medical history known issues.

It doesn’t seem like a good practice for trades to be vetoed post public announcement.

It would seem completely unfair for it to be voided on anything other than “they didn’t tell us about that”

Yes. This. This beckons several possibilities. The list is in descending order of how bad they get, whereas number one is “yeah, that’s sort of a bad look” to number 5 that says “that’s a very very bad look”.

  1. lakers have a different opinion about something medical
  2. hornets were unaware of something medically concerning
  3. hornets withheld pertinent medical info
  4. lakers did actually get cold feet/buyers remorse and used vague excuses
  5. lakers were approached with the possibility of some buyout big man for a rental this season OR some better deal they could make in the off season for a big

THIS is exactly what I think the situation is. Of course the NBA doesn’t give a shit about us so it is what it is…

Yes same. This is absolutely devastating. The damage is significant. Which is why I’m wanting to see the charlotte front office be proactive about teasing out what happened and why. In a very direct, transparent manner. To challenge it and hopefully save face

We’ll never knowbut i imagine it’s not totally unrealistic that Mark has issues that came up on a physical that we haven’t tested for or weren’t theretofore aware.

I think you are correct.

Wasn’t Caris LeVert determined to have cancer upon a physical during a trade 4-5 years ago or something?

So all the shit people talked about Jordan’s medical staff is even worse under this new regime… got it.

Too bad we will still have to send him back to G league lol. No minutes for him here. We literally HAVE to play Mark and we probably have to play Nurkic or buy him out. Lol.

We are screwed. At least we have Lamelo.

Possibly! Unless the hornets or lakers divulge some real information we won’t know. That’s absolutely a possibility, our medical team still sucks.

I really hope that Peterson and co respond to this proactively and transparently. Because it’s a bad look on the hornets. And if the lakers really did something “fucky”, then let the record show it.

The hornets organization looks very bad right now and they’ve gotta do something.
