2024-25 Hornets General Discussion

I see some shady team trying to sneak a center who was going to the Pacers rescind that intention and fill the Mark Williams spot. How convenient.

What would it be like as a franchise for fucking everything to just work out for you? Not just work out, but be spoon fed success. Fuckers. If it sounds like I’m bitter, it’s because I am.

Well, that’s surprising.

Sorry to recycle the same gif in the span of two hours but,

Nice! I especially appreciate how his bones stayed in one piece and his muscles did not tear or strain.

Melo is probably off to a tropical island far away right now and I don’t blame him one bit.

Maybe this will work:

Ankle Fusion (Arthrodesis)

Ankle fusion is a surgical procedure where the bones of the ankle joint are permanently joined together (fused). This is done to relieve severe pain and instability in the ankle joint.

Would love to see Melo change shoes at this point. Maybe that sounds like an old guy thing to say but I’ve been saying it since last year (or so? I’ve lost track of time in this hornets hellscape). If I keep fucking up my 200 million dollar plus ankle, I’m changing my shoes and adding the craziest ankle brace I can.

Let’s hope the shoes change also.

Man I hope they move him at the draft

The trade will probably be rescinded anyways

I didn’t want to but I had to… as I’m not an artist I used AI to create my new avatar for Hornets Planet…

I’m starting to think the hornets may not make the play in…

Jk. I am looking forward to jusuf nurkic out there. We’ve never had a center that could (or will) shoot threes. I think we’ve all been wanting to see how a shooting big will stretch the floor and open things up for the offense. Unclog the lane. Clear out the constipated offense possibly.

That’s a really sad point for me this season. Im genuinely excited about watching nurkic. Sigh.

Nighty night Melo. Have a good rest my dude.

You might be forgetting the ā€œsheer magicā€ that was Spencer Hawes…

We won’t count Frank Kaminsky since he had the paint presence of a 6’1" guy.

Oh how could i forget Spencer hawes, mr. double zero. The 00 agent assassin himself. Pretty wild that he bounced around the league for ten years. And we were graced by his presence for (two?) years.

I see your Spencer hawes, and I’ll toss out bobcats legend Byron mullens. It’s hilarious to say, but I’d submit his poster dunk over LA as one of the most iconic Bobcats highlights ever. And the best part is that it was the result of an absolute BRICK of a three point shot by Mullens. At least Byron adhered to a principle that is taught to players at a young age: follow your shot. Given that he wasn’t a good three point shooter, he needed to follow his shot quite a bit lol.

Good. I want this solved the classic American way: a lengthy litigious process that is expensive, tedious, and usually leads to an unsatisfying ending filled with scrutiny. And usually goes to the side with the most influence and money.

Here, I’ve written a script that would fit into Star Trek or something. Damn that makes me sound old.
———————
ā€œLieutenant, crank up the tedium thrusters to max capacity!ā€

ā€œā€¦Sir! The engine is already at full capacity given the litigious nature of everything! The Legal-ese will become too nuanced and too complex for our minimal engines to handle!ā€

ā€œI didn’t ask for feedback lieutenant! I said full speed ahead into the tedium of contract law, damnit! We will extract as much ambiguity in our favor as we can from the Legal-ese contracts, or die trying!ā€

ā€œBut sir, the enemy is too strong and has many mercenaries at their disposal! We only have but so much money to spend and so very few healthy soldiers. Our medical team is a skeleton crew as it is! We can’t handle any more dead or injured.ā€

ā€œLieutenant, we may very well die on this hill today, but we will be remembered. It’s the principle, damnit. The odds may be against us and the books are stacked in their favor. But no one will fight the fight for us, other than ourselves…for freedom! May we set legal, contract law precedent and new standards of accountability for all other teams after us….we very well die trying…FOR SMALL MARKET TEAMS EVERYWHERE!!!ā€

But a moment of non sarcasm. I am very happy our new FO is pursuing legal action with the league against the lakers for a couple reasons.

  1. This is a good trade for the hornets that would’ve never happened under the previous regime anyways
  2. In the impossible event that the trade did happen under the previous regime, they would say and do anything when it was rescinded.
  3. What happened was not right even if the lakers did have legal precedent to be able do it. And there needs to be more concrete steps in the future to prevent this from happening. Because it hurt both teams.
  4. The trade won’t be reversed, but this legal action is important to prevent teams like the lakers from pulling this shit in the future.
  5. Lastly, I’m happy to eat my words. But. There’s no way a well loved, well connected guy like Peterson tried to do something sneaky or shady. I fully reject that. No way a new, young, excited, well respected and connected GM (or whatever his title is) attempted to fuck over another team like that…the LA Lakers of all teams.
