2024-25 Hornets General Discussion

The player association should make it happen

I can’t be how bad this whole thing has ruined our franchise young center. It just sucks. Do the right thing and push the trade through NBA!

That’s not going to happen. We likely don’t want that as that would be a years long type thing to settle. What we likely want is some penalty, be it financial or a 2nd round pick. But mostly we should be fighting for an admission of guilt of some type that takes the label of broken off of Mark for his sake and to a lesser extent ours.

Right. I see this as fighting for Mark’s redemption.

Yeah absolutely. We need to preserve the franchise perception as much as the mark perception. I think the legal pursuit actually helps our relationship with mark Williams, oddly. It says that we stand by our guy being healthy and not broken.

What a weird world

Did any of you read the realgm boards of the Luka trade?

Last I checked it was over 180 pages. The overwhelming majority of the theme was how the league is simply sports entertainment at this point and are trying to save itself and ratings by getting the most marketable young player into the most marketable franchise. Even Lakers fans were saying this. Literally 99% of the comments were not trying to defend the fairness of the deal. And realgm is actual basketball watchers not casual fans.

It seems like the league could alter that perception slightly by making the Lakers pay the first but leave everything else in place rescinded.

Judging by the len buyout the Lakers are operating under the assumption they won’t actually have to take on Mark

They should rescind it.

I see this as a psych op… Especially if they overturn the trade… To ā€œproveā€ the NBA isn’t setting up the Lakers to stay legitimate/contenders

Knecht is playing tonight. I know watching Lakers is like betrayal, and I dislike Lebron, but Kobe+Lakers was my team growing up, and now my 2nd favorite guy Luka is there, so, sorry Hornets.

You’re forgiven

I was a huge Kobe guy too and I used to love the Lakers. Now, LeBron has made it so I can never pull for them… and this Mark stuff made it even harder.

We were Wong about Isaiah:

I thought Wong flashed some potential offensively, but I guess they see Payton as more of a pure PG. Wong hasn’t been much of a facilitator. Only averaging 1.4 assists, albeit in only 13 mpg, but still just 3.8 per 36. Not great when that’s your main job. Included in that was a game last week against the Pistons where he only had 1 assist in 24 mins of court time.

On a different note, does anyone else find it odd that Eric, Dell and Shannon are just totally playing off the Mark Williams situation? Unless I’ve missed it, I haven’t even heard them so much as mention Mark’s name since everything happened with the trade. Admittedly, even though I’ve watched every game they haven’t had my full attention like they did earlier in the season so it’s very possible it’s been brought up and I missed it, but it just seems odd that they wouldn’t address what’s going on in some fashion. Seems like they’ve clearly been given a gag order by someone.

We are clearing out his spot for Knecht to come over when the trade goes through. lol

I’m still holding out false hope.

Holding out false hope is the main state of mind for us Hornets fans, of course.

….and then BAM! The inescapable reality of Hornets Law sinks in. Things in life that cannot be escaped: death, taxes, hornets law.

We need some hornets law t shirts. I know we have a good designer here on HP who occasionally drops some fire photoshop stuff.

Don’t look at them like independent journalists calling the game like say a tnt crew. Look at them like company employees paid to shine the product. Like in the Truman show when he starts saying random things to the extras just to see what their reaction would be

We are Truman.

Surely the league would need to do something about that right?

So interesting.

Assuming this is true, do the hornets have to hold the line and not buy him out?
